I2 Claims.
This invention relates to a conveyance that is to be used for transporting passengers and is particularly adapted for carrying golfers around a golf course, although it maybe used for other purposes.
An object of the invention is to provide a pluralityof seats on a scooter type of vehicle for conveying the members of a twosome, threesome, or foursome and a caddie from tee togreen, i. e., from starting tee to the eighteenth green of a golf course.
Another object is to provide a vehicle for the use of golfers who are unable to walk around a .golf course, that is constructed and arranged to provide ready access to the seats whereby after each shot .the player may readily seat himself and may as readilyselect a club from his bag, approach his ball, and play another shot.
.An additional object is to provide a vehicle body that is easilyattached to the chassis of a motor car of the scootertype, such body having provision for the seating of four players and .a caddie.
Other objects will be disclosed in'the specifi- .cation.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 .is a side elevation of the invention,
IFigureiZ is a top plan view of the vehicle front end,
to the amount of walking, including climbing up anddown hills that must be traversed in playing a round of golf. The present invention is for .the purpose of allowing such players to continue playing the game of golf by the provision of a vehicle that will readily carry theplayers from green to wherever the ball lies, and from one players lie to anothers, around the entire course without making it necessary for the players to walk except to a very minor degree.
'In the drawings, the letter A indicates the vehicle as a whole, that is supported on a pair of front wheels I and a single rear wheel 2 forming part of a Cushman chassis. The motor, not shown, is located within the hood 3 whose top portion is provided with ,an elongated cushion seat '4, the forward portion of which seats the driver of the vehicle, while ,the rear portion may 'be-nsed to seat the caddie.
As shown in dotted linesinFigure 4, the usual .bags.
angled extensions longitudinal "frame members '5 and '16 are utifloor is secured in position on the frame members by U bolts l2 and 2.9, see Figures 1 and 4. The front of the floor has a'bumper H.
The extensions 8 and'iisupport enlarged portions 46 and 41 of the floor B. These enlarged portions form the support for'the end golf bag wells 3| and 34. The "front end of'the 'fioor also has additional enlarged portions 48 and '49 that add to the amount of 'foot space. ItwillLbe appreciated that the three men on the front 'seat have room for their feet as will be noticed by referring to Figure 2.
Secured to the transverse framemem'ber H] by U bolt I3 is the V-shaped seat supporting member l5 having diverging horizontal legs l6 and I 1. These legs are bolted 'by bolts [9 and serve to'support'the'seat which'is wide enough to 'support'three players. A back rest 2| and arm rests 22, 23 :are provided for the seat, "the arm restshaving suitable cushions, preferably of "foam rubber, that are mounted .on the arm rests. "The 'numeral 24 indicates padding and the numeral 25 indicates padding on arm rests 22 and '23 respectively. The lower ends are curved inwardly and are suitably attached to "the curved . metal wheel housings 21 and 28, whoseupper and'lower ends may be suitably attached by bolts (not shown) to the seat and floor.
The enlarged portions 46, 41 of the floor 'form a support for wells 3|, 32, 33 and 3.4 that receive and support the lower ends of the golf bags, not shown, the upper supports for which are now to be described. As shown in Figure '3, the bolts 42a are used to attach the wells, such as 3-2 and 33 to the cross piece I00. The numeral 101 indicates a vertical support for the seat .back 2|. The numeral 35 is a frame that is attached to the seat back 21'. The frame35 consistsof horizontal cross piece '31. Loops 38,39, and 4| are attached by bolts 42 to cross piece 31, the loops serving to support the upper ends of four golf These loops are each located :above corresponding cups, said loops and cups comprising receptacle means for the several golf bags 'Of .the players.
The rear cross piece 36 has integral :right 43 and :44 that are connected bybolts 26 to the arm rests 2-2 "and 23.
An apron 56, Figure 3, extends downwardly from the seat and may be attached to the wheel housings 21, 28.
The handle bars 46 are adapted to oscillate the shaft 41 for steering of the vehicle by the driver who sits on the forward portion of the seat 4. The shaft is steadied by brace 45 that is fastened to the rear frame cross piece 36.
The vehicle shown in the drawings and as above described is an ideal conveyance for carrying players from one place to another around a golf course. Because of its lightness it will not cause ruts to be made in the fairways, and it will safely and conveniently convey the players to wherever the golf balls may be driven,
on the fairways or even in the rough.
Various changes may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention, and it is to be understood that the specification and drawings are to be construed as illustrative, and not in a limiting sense, as I desire to be limited only to the extent set forth in the appended claims.
