NURSING BOTTLE HOLDER Filed April 12, 1945 INVENTOR MATH1L DA A. HELIXON AT TCRNEYS Patented Feb. 22, 1949 NURSING BOTTLE HOLDER Mathilda A. Helixon, Winthrop Harbor, Ill.
Application April 12, 1945, Serial No. 587,911
2 Claims.
My invention refers to nursing bottle holders, and it has for its object to provide a simple, economical and safe bottle holder, adapted to be flexibly suspended from an infants crib or carriage.
With the above object in view, the invention consists in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully set forth hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a bottle holder, attached to and suspended from the rails of the crib, embodying the features of my invention.
Figure 2, a sectional view of the same, the section being indicated by line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3, an enlarged detail sectional view through the holder bottom portion, showing a fragment of the bottle and nipple, whereby said bottle is secured to the holder, the section being indicated by line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4, a sectional plan view of the holde the section being indicated by line 44 of Figure 1.
Figures 5 and 6, magnified sectional views through the tape connections of the holder, the sections being indicated respectively by lines 55 and 65 of Figure 1, and
Figure 7, a diagrammatic face. view of a one piece blank from which the holder or pocket is formed by folding and stitching.
Referring by characters to the drawings, A indicates a conical or V shaped holder pocket, having an opening I at its base, through which the neck "3 of the bottle extends.
The bottom opening, as noted, is formed with an inverted V shaped slit I for the purpose of permittin inspection of the bottle to determine whether or not the liquid contents of the bottle has been depleted. The. flared mouth edges of the pocket have stitched thereto, folded tapes 2-2, and the side edges of said pockets, at the points from which the tapes extend, is formed with a notched opening 3 to permit spreading of said mouth, and the same is properly reinforced by a hem.
While I have'shown the bottle holder formed from a flexible woven material, it is understood that I may, in some instances, form the pocket from any suitable material, as, for instance, plastic, rubberized orsome transparent substance.
In this exemplification of my invention, the pocket is fabricated from a blank shown in Figure '7 of the drawing. The triangular portion 2 a is folded upon the dotted lines a and b causing the edge b to assume the position indicated by the dotted line 0. The opposite angular edge e of the blank is similarly folded on the lines 0 and b".
After these parts are lapped folded, they are suitably stitched, and in developing said fold, the apex of the various folds will form the bottom opening I, due to the V shaped slit I.
Thus it will be noted that the blank forms onehalf of a hexagonal with parallel base and top lines. The triangular ends of the blank are lap folded upon each other and stitched to develop a cone frustum pocket with a wide open mouth and a restricted bottom opening for the reception of a nursing bottle, whereby a simple and cheaply manufactured pocket is developed.
It will also be noted, by referring to the blank, the notched openings are split and folded back upon their edges for reinforcing purposes.
From the foregoing description with reference to the blank, particular attention is called to the fact that the holder is completed from the blank by folding the triangular ends of said blank, whereby a reinforced side Wall is developed, which in practise is found necessary for strengthening purposes, keeping in mind that the material is more or less delicate.
Furthermore, the only seams to develop the pocket are at the edges of the triangular laps, and thus, complicated hemming is avoided. It should also be borne in mind that the upper raw edges of the wide mouth are reinforced by the straps which are hemmed to said raw edges.
From the foregoing description, it will be noted that to install the bottle of infants food, the pocket is reversed from its suspended position, and the bottle can then be conveniently inserted into the ocket and its mouth or neck B forced through the bottom opening I.
Thereafter the nipple is inserted, and, owing to its projection over the head of the bottle mouth, it serves to lock the bottle securely within the pocket, whereby it is held securely, should the pocket be inverted from the position shown in Figure 1. It will also be noted that owing to the pair of tapes which suspend the pocket, the bottle may be conveniently adjusted as to height from the infants head, whereby the contents of the bottle may be conveniently nursed, and due to the bottles flexibility, the device, as a whole, has V the pocket may readily swing from a fixed position, and return.
While I have shown and described one exemplification of my invention minutely as to detail, it is understood that I may vary the same within the scope of the claims,
I claim:
1. A nursing bottle holder comprising a blank forming one-half, of a hexagonal having a parallel base. and top lines, the triangular end portions of the blank being lap folded upon each other and stitched to form a wide top opening and a restricted V shaped bottom opening, and tapes stitched to the edges of the top opening for reinforcing the same, the free ends of. said tapes being adapted to fasten the holder to a crib.
2. A nursing bottle holder comprising a blank forming one-half of a. hexagonal having parallel base and top lines, the triangles and positions of the blank being. lap folded upon each other and 4 stitched at their edges to form a reinforcing double wall having a wide top opening and a. narrow V-shaped bottom openin and tapes stitched to the upper edges of the top opening for reinforcing the same, whereby the triangular bottle receiving pocket having a wide entrance mouth and a restrictin bottom opening through which the bottle projects.
