and more particularly to a case for a manicure set.

.Amain object of theinvention is to provide a novel and improved manicure case which is very simple in structure, pleasing in appearance and providing ready access to the manicuring implements and material contained therein when said implements and material are required for use.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved receptacle for manicure material and equipment, said receptacle being inexpensive to manufacture, easy to carry from place to place, and being readily set up with the contents thereof accessible for use.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and claims, and from the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a manicure case according to the present invention, the case being shown in closed position.

Figure 2 is a front elevational view of the manicure case of Figure 1, shown in open position.

Figure 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a horizontal cross-sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 1.

Figure 5 is a horizontal cross-sectional view taken on line 55 of Figure 3.

Figure 6 is an enlarged detail view in cross section taken vertically through the handle member of the manicure case of Figure 1.

Referring to the drawings, H designates an ornamental housing, shaped to resemble a butter churn. Housing 1 l is preferably made of suitably finished wood although other materials may be employed within the spirit of this invention. The butter churn shape is employed because the conical frustum shape thereof provides maximum stability due to the relatively enlarged base portion thereof and prevents the housing from tipping, thereby avoiding spilling or damaging the manicure equipment contained therein.

Housing II is provided with two front doors I2, I 2 respectively hinged at l3, l3 to the side of the housing, and swingable to open positions, as shown in Figure 2. The inner space within the housing contains a base stand member [4 having a depending central bottom pivot lug l 5 which rotatably engages a central opening it in the bottom wall ll of the housing. Base stand member 14 is provided with a plurality of resilient fingers l8 adapted to engage containers [9 of the different fluids and other material employed in mani- 2 claims. Fingers t8 frictionally grasp the containers t9 and hold them in position .on base stand ii -l when the manicure set .is not use.

The inner surfaces of housing I i are preferably lined with felt or other suitable soft material. Secured to the inside surface of each door I2 is a strap member 20, of strip metal or the like, formed witha plurality of loops, each loop receiving a manicuring implement such as tweezers, scissors, and the like.

The top wall of the housing comprises a dished member 2| rigidly secured to the sides of the housing and defining an upper space adapted to receive absorbent cotton 22. Centrally secured to member 2| and extending vertically upwardly therefrom is an elongated handle member 23.

A cover disc 24 is provided, said cover disc having a central aperture adapted to slidably fit handle member 23 and to allow the disc to be moved into overlyingrelationship with respect to dishlike member 2!. Handle member 23 is formed with a vertical groove '25 and at the top end of said groove the handle member carries a springpressed ball detent 25 contained in a suitable recess formed in the handle member. Secured to cover disc 25 at its bottom plane and projecting intg groove 25 is a pin member 21 which prevents rotation of disc 2A with respect to handle 23. The central aperture in the disc is formed above pin 2'! with a recess 3i! adapted to receive ball detent 2 6 when the disc is raised to locking position on handle 23. The aperture is bevelled above recess 33 as shown at 29 to facilitate the seating of the ball detent in said recess. Disc 24 may be raised with respect to handle 23 until detent 26 slips into recessed, thereby locking the disc in open posi tion as shown .in Figure 2. When the cover disc is in open position, access may be hadto the ab 7 sorbent cotton in the dish-like member 2|. To close the dish-like member, cover disc 24 is forced down, the ball detent 26 yielding under the downward pressure exerted on the cover disc.

Suitable knobs 28, 2B are provided on the doors I2, I 2 to facilitate the opening and closing thereof.

While a specific embodiment of a manicure case structure has been disclosed in'the foregoing description, it will be understood that various modifications within the spirit of the invention may occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore it is intended that no limitations be placed on the invention other than as defined by the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. In a manicure case, an open top housing of conical frustum shape, a pair of doors arranged on the side of said housing and mounted for movement toward and away from each other for gaining access to the interior of the housing, a strap member provided with a plurality of loops secured to the inside surface of said doors for supporting manicuring implements thereon, a base stand member arranged in said housing and rotatably supported on the bottom of the latter for supporting containers of manicuring fluids thereon, a dish member closing the open top of said housing for supporting absorbing cotton thereon and a cover disc on said dish member and supported by said housing.

In a manicure case, an open-top housing of 2,461,177 I p v a 4 member arranged within said housing and rotatabiy supported on the bottom of the latter for supporting containers of manicuring fluids thereon, a dish member closing the open top Of said housing for supporting absorbing cotton thereon, a vertically disposed handle member projecting from said dish member and secured thereto, and a cover disc slidably mounted on said handle member for movement toward and away from said dish member. i
