Description
Patented Jan. 18, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE N-MONOCHLOROCYCLOHEXYLAMINE Glen Alliger, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, assignor to The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio, a corporation of Ohio No Drawing; Application September 5, 1946, Serial No. 695,051
1 Claim. 1
The subject of this invention is N -monochloro-= cyclohexylamine, a new chemical compound v which is useful as an intermediate as, for example, in reactions with mercaptides having the formula RrSNa in which R may be any of the 5 usual mercaptide groups, such as an alkyl group, benzothiazyl, thiocarbamyl, etc.
The compound is prepared by adding one mol of sodium hypochlorite to 1.16 mols of cyclohexylamine. When no excess of cyclohexylamine was used, some dichlorocyclohexylamine was formed. The reaction-takes place according to the following equation:
, 2 Analysis for CsHmNCl:
Calc.: 01, 25.53 per cent Found: Cl, 26.93 per cent The usual strong oxidizing properties of N- chloroamines were exhibited by this compound; e. g., it liberated iodine from potassium iodide.
What I claim is:
N -monochlorocyclohexylamine.
