This invention relates to a cuff link particularly adapted for French type cuffs.

One of the objects of this invention is to pro-.

vide a head which will extend about the edge of the cufi and prevent the head from being rotated in the buttonhole of the cuff.

Another object of this invention is to provide a head which will extend about the edge of the cufi so as to retain the cuif in neater appearance when worn.

Another object of this invention is to prevent the outer edges of the cuff from separating when the link is in position.

Another object of this invention is to provide a cuff link which will substantially obscure the buttonhole of the cufi.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features as will be more fully described hereinafter and pointed out specifically in the appended claims.

In proceeding with this invention I provide a cuff head which will extend along the surface of the cuff and substantially cover the buttonhole thru the cuff, and also extend about the edge of the cuff so as to embrace all of the plurality of edges of a cuif of the French type. A post is provided, attached to the head, which will pass thru the buttonholes of the cuff and some means for locking the post in position, such as a movable head, is secured to the other end of the post for this purpose.

With reference to the drawings, the head which is primarily the subject of this invention, consists of a flat plate-like portion which is of a size and shape to cover the buttonhole of a cuff as a J shape, as shown in the drawing. This hook shape I4 is of a sufiicient sweep so as to embrace both of the edges of the cufi and generally hold them in a neat compact relation and against separating 0r gapping. The hook also serves to prevent relative rotary movement of the head with relation to the buttonhole I 5 of the cufi.

A post l6 which is bifurcated as at I! provides spaced arms for the mounting of a movable head l8 between these arms. This head I8 is pivoted as at l9 thru the arms I! and will be held in the position shown in Figures 2 and 3, or at right angles thereto by any suitable actuating mechanism, one of which suitable mechanisms is shown in Patent No. 2,093,723 dated September 21, 1937. In use the head i8 will be swung into alignment with the bifurcated post l8 and passed thru the buttonhole l5 of the cuif, the edges of the cuff being tucked into the hooked portion of the head H. The head l8 will then be swung to the position shown in Figures 2 and '3 where it will be retained until it is desired to again remove the link from the buttonhole of the cuff.

I claim:

1. A cuff link comprising a first head member Q having a first portionin generally a single plane to engage one outer surface of a cuff with an end portion extending transversely to said first portion and then back oversaid first portion beyond a perpendicular to said plane at the joint of juncture of said plane with said transverse end portion to extend about the edges of the cuff and over the opposite outer surface thereof, a post secured at one of its ends to said head member to pass through all of .the buttonholes of the cuff and a second head member'at the other end of the post to extend over the said opposite outer surface of the cufl to assist in retaining the post in the buttonholes of the cufi, said second head member being spaced from said first head member when in holding position in the edit.

2. A cuff link as in claim 1 wherein the edge of said first head member is of generally J shape.

3. A cufi link as in claim 1 wherein said second head member is movable relativeto said post.

- 4. A cuff link as in claim 1 wherein said post I is bifurcated at the end thereof distant from said head member, and said second head member is movably mounted in the space between the bimeans to hold said second head member in line with'the post or at right angles thereto.

6. A cuff link as in claim 1, and means to pivotally mount said second head member on an axis at substantially right angles to the lengthwise extent of said post and in a plane extending through said post and the longitudinal extent of said first head member.
