This invention relates to a tobacco clip and the primary object of the invention is to provide a device for securing leaves of tobacco to supports which will permit easy removal or insertion of the leaves therein.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device that is simple in construction, durable in use, efficient in operation and inexpensive to manufacture.

With the above and. other objects in view the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention as installed on a tobacco stick and supporting tobacco leaves;

Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof and Figure 3 is a cross sectional View thereof.

Referring more in detail to the drawing the reference numeral l designates the clip which is made from a single strand of wire being bent at its ends to form yokes I2 which are adapted to overlie the tobacco stick M. The wire intermediate the yokes is bent outwardly to form parallel portions it which are further bent to form intermediate yokes l8 and the Wire intermediate the portions I6 is bent inwardly at 20 to form spring loops 22 which are adapted to engage the stems 24 of the tobacco leaves 26. The jaws formed by the portions l inturned portions 20 and loops 22 extend at right angles to the stick l4 and are spaced suificiently close together to compensate for any shrinkage of the tobacco leaf and the jaws are spaced apart to permit air to freely circulate about the leaves.

The clip can be made as long as desired using as many parallel jaws as will effectively cover the length of the stick which supports the clip.

It is believed the use of the clip and its construction will be apparent to those skilled in the art and it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Let-- ters Patent is:

A device of the character described, comprising a clip made from a single strand of wire having end supporting yokes and intermediate supporting yokes and parallel portions having spring loops intermediate said portions extending at right angles from said yokes and formed in parallel planes therewith, but extending in opposed relation to each other on opposite sides of the yokes, and said yokes are made to conform to the support therefor, and said parallel portions are spaced from each other to permit circulation of air about articles suspended thereby.
