Theiinvention relates to albath tub fittin'geand;
more especially to .a foot .rest bathf tubs or tlie' l'ikei y.
- Trhe primarybbjectof the invention is :themrovision of a fitting of this character, wherein the same can be arranged at a bath tub for the placing of the foot therein for washing the same or drying, and also to enable one to stand up within the tub with safety when soaping the feet, the draining thereof and the drying of the same, the device or fitting being of novel construction, in that it will also hold soap conveniently located for service when using the tub for washing purposes.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a fitting of this character, wherein the wetting of the floor or foundation next to a bath tub by Wet feet caused from standing upon the floor or foundation, can be avoided, the fitting being useable either when within the tub or without the same, for the drying of the feet of a person after using the said tub.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a fitting of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and effective in operation, strong, durable, neat in appearance, in that it does not detract from the tub, readily and easily applied or removed, susceptible of location at any desired or selected point with respect to the said tub, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter set forth, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred and modified forms of construction of the invention, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary vertical transverse sectional view through a bath tub andthe fitting constructed in accordance with the invention associated therewith.
Figure 2 is an elevation.
Figure 3 is a top plan view.
Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 2 looking toward the inside area of the fitting.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Figure 6 is a view similar to Figure 1 showing a modification.
Figure 7 is a top plan thereof Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, particularly Figures 1 to 5, inclusive, which discloses one form of the device constituting the present invention, A denotes generally a portion of thebody of a bath tub, which may be of any selected construction, with an upstanding walling about the bowl area, as is usual, and such device comprises an upwardly tapered vertical column or post H1 having a base I! providing laterally extending attaching flanges l2, accommodating fasteners l3, which secure the column or post ID in place against the outer face of the walling of the tub.
The upper portion of the column or post I0 is formed with an inwardly and downwardly directed head I 4, which bridges the top rim of the tub and inclines inwardly toward the bowl of the said tub to effect a foot rest pedal or step I5 having a hollow forming a cavity or depression l6 for accommodating the foot of a person, not shown. The cavity or depression l6 has a conformation corresponding to the configuration of the human foot, and is bordered by a marginal rim I1, While depending from the inner heel end of this head [4 is'a pocketed hooking slab "3, which saddles the rim of the tub, the pocket 19 in such slab being designed to receive a cake of soap, 2!] for the holding thereof conveniently accessible to a bather using the tub.
Leading from the cavity or depression l6 and the pocket I!) are communicative drain passages 2| and 22, respectively, which in single order open into the bowl of the tub, for the drainage of these into such bowl of the latter.
The pedal or step I5 can be used by a bather in the tub when standing in the latter for washing or drying of the feet, one at a time, without Wetting the foundation or floor outside of such tub in its vicinity.
In Figures 6 to 8, inclusive, of the drawings, there is shown a slight modification of the invention, wherein the device disclosed thereby has the step or pedal 23 reversely inclined to the step or pedal l5, so that a person when standing outside of the bowl of the tub can rest either foot in the said pedal or step for the washing or drying of the same.
In Figures 9 to 11, inclusive, of the drawings,
3 there is shown a further modification of the invention, wherein the head 24 has formed therewith the reversely inclined steps or pedals 25, and 26, respectively, thus permitting use thereof when either inside of the tub or outside thereof, as
and bridging the walling of the said tub, a foot step formed with the head and having drainage" into the tub, a soap holder built with the head and exposed within the said tub, a base for the post and fasteners engaging the base, the step being inclined in a determined direction and having-a cavity conforming to a person's foot.
2. A fitting for a bath tub, comprising a post for anchorage next to the tub and rising vertically thereto, a head at the uppermost end of the post and bridging the walling of the said tub, a pair of foot steps formed in said head each having a drainage passage formed therein and adapted to empty into the tub, one of said foot steps being reception of a persons foot.
4 inclined inwardly to said tub and the other inclined outwardly from said tub.
3. A fitting for a bath tub, comprising a post for anchorage next to the tub and rising vertically thereto, a head at the uppermost end of the post and bridging the walling of the said tub, a pair of foot steps formed in said head each having a drainage passage formed therein and adapted to empty into the tub, one of said foot steps being inclined'inwardly to said tub and the other inclined outwardlyfrom said-tub and each of the said steps having a cavity formed therein for the NED CLARK.
