` Application February 26, `194s, serial No. 650,343
l This `invention relates to purator. I
An object of the invention is the construction of a novel and efficient device to@ be used by sufferers of piles, hemorrhoids, stulas, pruritis-ani and any rectal soreness intensied by the presentway of cleaning ones self after a bowel evacuation.
` Another object of the invention is the construction of an eicient Vdevice 4which will eliminate a rectal spray depain,` and bleeding, brought on by the rubbing.
and smearing with the toilet paper wiping process.
A still further object of the invention is the construction of a novel device that can be easily assembled, and operated by the user.
With the foregoing and other objects in view mylinvention comprises certain novelconstructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation, a small part being shown in section, of a device constructed in accordance with the present invention, while Figure 2 is a top plan View thereof.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary, vertical sectional View of the device.
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional View taken on line 4 4, Figure 1.

It is tobeunderstood that therubber* bulb 5 isself-expanding and that the hollow anni* constitutes `a housing for' the `rubber tubing" `4. Whenjthe guard 5 is in place against the rectum', it forms,` a collarfaround the area to be cleaned, and prevents any fluid or krnatteri escaping be# yondit. `The guard 'jcan be made of anyl rubber Figure 5 is an elevated rear View of the U- i shape guard, which is open at its bottom.
Referring to the drawings in which the preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated, I is a rigid hollow yarm substantially curved throughout its length for the purpose hereinafter specied. A fitting 2 extends into the upper end of hollow arm I (Fig. 3) and on the outer end of ttin-g 2 is a rubber bulb 3. A rubber tubing 4 is in the hollow arm I with the inner end of tting 2 extending into said rubber tubing 4.
A comparatively stiff rubber guard 5 is provided; this horizontal guard 5 is open both at its top and bottom, and is substantially U-shape and is provided with an upper saddle edge E and a pominel 1. The guard 5 is provided with parallel lips 8 that ft against the sides of the hood 9 (Fig. 4),
` and through these lips 8 and hood 9 extend screws These screws also extend into the hollow I I0. arm I thereby holding theguard 5 and hood 9 upon the arm I. By this connection, the guard 5 is adjustably mounted upon the lower end of hollow arm I. The hood 9 is provided with an elongated slot lI through which spray nozzle I2 eX- tends.. This nozzle I 2 is carried by the lower `end composition, plastic or metal, and is shaped to ordinarily t the contour of the rectum when the user is in a sitting position. The pommel portion I of the guard extends upward to t into the indentation of the buttocks at `the base of the spine; this also serves to direct theguardto propu The device is then carried by the user to the toilet. The bowel evacuation is completed. By reason of the curved structure of the hollow arm I, the guard 5 is allowed to be placed between the legs of the user, and then the guard is placed back beneath the rectum, with the perforated nozzle I2 beneath the anus. guard 5 upward against the buttocks with one hand, the saddle edge 6 and the pommel 1 fitting the user excellently, and then the user squeezes the bulb with his free hand. The water is forced out of the spray nozzle I2 at the desiredforce of the user in spurts or steady. As the user squeezes the bulb he oscillates the spray, thereby cleaning the entire area from side to side. When pressure is relieved off the bulb 3 it expands, and by repeating pressure on bulb it is easy to force every drop of fluid therefrom. A refill of the bulb from the `vessel `can be accomplished by user should it be necessary. After the wash-off, the rectum can, if desired, be blotted dry with toilet paper. Thus the rectum is treatedgently, cleaned thorf oughly, and to the diseased `recturn a painful operation `is eliminated.
While I have described the preferred embodiment of my invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain `minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled theextensive manufacture of the same, and I,
therefore, reserve the right to make such altera- The user pulls the tions or changes as shall fairly fall within the slot at its outer end, said hood positioned between .said parallellips, a hollow 4arm provided with V-shape slots in its inner end, said hollow arm extending into said guard parallel with said lips, means fastening said lips, guard, and hollow arm together, a tubing in said hollow arm and 15 substantially as shown and described.
being capable of slight movement within said V-shape slots, said tubing extending at its inner end into said hood, a nozzle within said horizontal guard, and attached through said elongated slot to the inner end of said tubing, whereby said tubing and nozzle is permitted to have a slight movement within said guard, and a bulb connected to the outer end of said tubing.
l 2. In a rectal spray depurator, `the combination of a curved hollow arm, said arm provided with a pair of V-shape slots on its vlower end,a rubber tubing movably mounted within said hollow arm and extending at its lower end beyond the lower end Aof said arm, a fitting on the lupper end of said rubber tubing and extending beyond the upper end of said hollow arm, al rubber bulb on the outer end of said tting, -a hood positioned horizontally `on the lower Aend of 'said hollow arm, said hood provided with a Vertical elongated slot, a substantially U-shape horizontal guard provided with parallel lips at its open end, said parallel lips bearing against portions of said hood, screws extending through said lips, hood,
5 and into said hollow arm, said horizontal guard being open at its top and bottom and provided with an upper saddle edge and with a raised pommel at its outer end, a spray nozzle within said guard, and extending through said elongated i0 slot of said hood and mounted upon the lower end of said rubber tubing within said hood, whereby the operator by grasping said rubber bulb can cause slight movement of the inner end of said rubber tubing and nozzle within said hood,
