(01. 139-13) In circular looms for the weaving of hoses of hemp or the like it is important, in order to make the hoses held tight at higher pressures to keep both the weft threads and the warp threads very taut so as to obtain a tight texture. In the circular looms used up till now the warp threads were each loaded with a weight suspended On the thread between two guide rods situated between the bob-bins and the loom heddles. These weights had to be rather heavy and the thread consequently was subjected to a very great Stress, which was further increased by the kinetic energy of the weight by the falling of the same during the backward movement of the thread at the closing of the shed. Breaks of the warp threads therefore easily occurred.
Subject matter of the "present invention is a device for checking the Warp threads, by means of which device the said draw-back is eliminated by the fact that a very light weight may be used.
According to the invention the device comprises one or more drums or rollers over which the threads are passed, and which are stopped when the threads are pulled forward by the opening of the lease, whereby the threads are subjected to a checking or braking effect by sliding on the drum or drums, whereas the drum or drums may rotate freely under the action of the threads when they are running backwards at the closing of the-lease.
The stopping and release of the rollers or drums may be effected in various manners, but is in the simplest way effected by means of a ratchet device, which may be of the friction type or of the usual ratchet wheel type,
Preferably two drums or rollers are used, arranged in such a manner that the threads are passed in S-form over both. This arrangement also enables an easy adjustment of the tension of the threads by varying the friction to which they are subjected when sliding on the drums. For this purpose the drums are mounted in a common support which may be pivotably mounted so that the position of the line between the centres of the drums may be varied, whereby that portion or are of the circumference of the drums over which the threads run may be adjusted.
The drawing illustrates diagrammatically an embodiment of a devic according to the invention. Fig. 1 shows the known system of a circular loom, in which the adjusting device according to the invention is incorporated, and 2 shows, on a larger scale, the device in which two drums or rollers are used.
In Fig. 1, l is the weaving ring or caliber at the upper edge of which the weaving is effected,
2 and 2 the woven hose which by the weaving is gradually pulled down through the weaving ring and the pipe 3 carrying the same. 4 is the weft thread bobbin, 5 the sector carrier and 6 the sector pressing the weft thread in between the warp threads.
The warp threads which are indicated by I and 1' are passed from the bobbins 8, 8', through the guides 9 over the guide rods I0, I l to the checking drums or rollers l2, l3 and from there through known heddles l4, M to the weaving ring I. I5 is a tensioning weight which is suspended in a bight of the warp thread between the guide rods I0 and II, and which, when the checking device according to the invention is used, may be very light.
As shown in Fig. 2 each of the rollers or drums I2, I 3 is provided with a ratchet wheel [6, I6 and pawls ll, 11 so that they can not rotate when the warp threads I, 1' are pulled forward at the opening of the shed-whereas they are freely rotatable when the warp threads are running backward-s at the closing of the shed.
According to the invention the drums or rollers l2, I3 are mounted in a common support 18 which is mounted on pivots l9, so that the position of the line between their centres may be varied so as to vary the length of the circumferential arc of the drums or rollers on which the warp threads slide, whereby the checking effect can be adjusted. In dotted lines is indicated a position of the drums or rollers by which the checking effect will be considerably greater than by the position shown in full lines.
The drums or rollers of different lengths may be used for the checkin of a greater or smaller number of threads and are preferably provided with peripheral grooves.
We claim:
1. In a circular weaving loom for the weaving of textile hoses, the provision of a number of cylindrical members over which the warp threads are passed in combination with stopping and releasing means for the rotational movement of the said members, acting in dependence upon the direction of draw in the warp threads so as to allow the rotation of the said members at the closing of the shed but keep the members stationary by the opening of the shed, thereby effecting a frictional check upon the warp threads sliding on the members.
2. In a circular weaving loom for the weaving of textile hoses, the provision of a number of cylindrical members over which the warp threads are passed in combination with a pawl and ratchet device controlling the state of movement of the said members in dependence upon the direction of draw in the warp threads.
3. In a circular weaving loom for the Weaving of textile hoses the provision of a number of cylindrical members over which the warp threads are passed in combination with a friction pawl device controlling the state of rotation of the said members in dependence upon the direction of draw in the warp threads. n 4. In a circular weaving loom for the weaving 10f textile hoses, the provision of two cylindrical members over which the warp threads are passed, the two members being rotatably mounted in a common support member in such relative position that the warp threads may be passed in S-form around them, and stopping and releasing means for the rotational movement of the said members, acting in dependence upon the direction of draw in the warp threads, so as to allow the rotation of the said members at the closing of the shed but keep the members stationary by the opening of the shed, thereby efifecting a frictional check upon the warp threads sliding on the members, the common support member being pivotably mounted so as to vary the peripheral portions of the cylindrical members engaged by the warp threads.
