- 1 The invention'relatesto a device for storing and, dispensing articles. The device may be ,carried in the pocket and-may. be particularly useful for dispensing pills and thelike. It may be adapted for dispensing various other articles such as candy, ball-bearings, chewing gum, capsules,

pellets, tablets, eyelets, rivets and various other articles of various shapes.-

The invention comprises a pair of plates which may lie in contact with each, other and may have slots which may be in register with each other but may be movable to change the relation of the plates or slots. Thus in normal orclosed position the slots may be closed so that articles may not be let out butthe relative positions of the plates maybe moved so as to allow an article to emerge andbe readyto be distributed from the device when the plates are returnedto normal position. I v The invention may be embodied in various forms of apparatus. Without limiting the invention thereto, but in order to fully explain .it,-

.-Thedevice;of Figs.- 1 to 5 may include two plates l5 and 16 mounted on a backing I 1 which may have a portion l81to fold overand engage one edge of-theplates and lie on, the top-of the plates. The position in which thedevi-ce may be held or arranged ,isnot important but for convenience of reference words of position or direction: referring to r the devices as shown in the drawings may be used without limiting the inven- 1 tion to such positions or directions. Theplate limay be referred to as the inner or lower plate and I5 as the outer or .upper plate. Breach of theplates may be provided slots or apertures. Preferably and as shown, each slot may have a depth of slightly more than half the diameter of an article. If open, it may be convenient to place over the slot IS a sheet of material to act as a cover and retain and keep from det'erioration'the articles. This may be a transparent sheet shown at 28 as extending over the entire surface of the plate l6.

The portion I8 of the backing may be folded over onto the plate l6 or the sheet 28 and held in any suitable way to protect the distributing device and act as an extra closing meansfor outlet 26, 21.

In Figs. 6 and '7 a modification is shown in which the outer plate Ilia with cover sheet 28d rests on the inner plate I521 which rests on a backin'g Ha having a closing flap 18a engaging a sec-' ond closing flap l8b. Here the slots do not turn as in Figs'; 1 to 6, but have the outlet at the end ofthe device more directly connected with the main slots. The plates I'5a and Him are pivoted toward their tops at Ma and'the form of the lower slot Zia-may bemodified accordingly, as shown.

In Fig. 8' isshown a modification-in which a portion of the outer plate marked 26 may b'e per-' manently fixed in place onthe inner plate I517. The outer plate 26 is" cut out at 29 onacircular line to receive for turning a plate 36 corresponding to the outer plate l6 of Fig. 1'. An aperture 31- is for-med to allow the member 36- to turn or pivot and a cut-out sheet 30 may be turned down to overlie the circular cut-out portion 29 so as toholdthe plate 36 from falling outof place. A cover plate 28b'may be applied to the plate 36 to hold the articles in' the slot;

In a device for dispensing articles, an inner plate, an outer plate pivoted to the inner plate to swing thereon, a transparent cover on the outer plate, a top slot in the outer plate as long as the width of a plurality of articles and slightly wider than the width of an article, a free outlet for the top slot, a bottom slot in the inner plate underlying the top slot and extending in width from one side of the top slot in unswung position to the other side of the top slot in swung position, a

In a device for dispensing'articles, an inner plate, an outer plate mounted to move across the inner plate, each plate being thinner than the thickness of an article but the combined thickness of the plates being greater than the thickness of an article, a top slot in the outer plate sufficiently long and wide to receive a plurality of articles, a free outlet for the top slot, a curve in the top slot toward its outlet, a bottom slot in the inner plate underlying the top slot and sufficiently long and wide to receive a plurality of articles, a free outlet for the bottom slot in register with the outlet for the top slot when it is in unswung position, and a projection in the bottom slot extending less than the width of an article from the opposite side of the upper slot when in unswung position but more than the width of an article from the opposite side of the upper slot when in swung position.
