This invention relates to improvements. in novelty rotary display stands.
object of the invention is to provide an improved novelty rotary display standior placing in store display windows to attract the attention of persons walking by the windows to cause: them to stop and inspect the store display in said windows.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improyed novelty rotor! display stand for placing in store display windows, said: stand including a surface simul'ating streets and a number of small structures simulating houses or stores with open doors, together with, a number of steel ball. containing capsules placed at random on the streets, and a plurality of rotatably supported permanent'magnets. positioned immediately below: said surface operated bya display motor tor attractint the steel; ball containing: capsules. for moving theminto and out or said: buildings.
A further object,v of the invention is to,- provide an, improved novelty rotary displap stand for positioning in store display wlndowswhereby a plurality of colored capsules. containing steel balls will move about the surtace of: said'stand by concealed magnets; rotatably supported and operated byan electrically. operated display motor, said display stand'being attractive and interesting to watch, and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and. produce.

In carrying out the invention. there is.- provided an improred novelty rota-m display: stan including: a. substantially rectangular shaped housin generally. denoted. by the reference nu,- meral I, and comprising a suporting bottom 2 with four cooperating vertically extending side walls 3, 4, 5 and 6 adapted to seat on the pee claims. The operating mechanism for the display device will now be described. An electric display motor generally designated: by the reference numoral [9 will besecured centrally on the bottom 2 in any desired manner and will be connected by the electric conductor 20 to any suitable source of electric current supply (not shown). The
' motor I! will be provided with a vertically (ex-- tending rotatable shaft 2t, and will support the large main rotating disk 22 which is reinforced by the spider 2.3.
A pair oi? bearing supporting studs 24 and 25v extend upwardly through the disk--22 and abovethesame at oppositely disposed points. Said studs having securing flanges 26. and 21 formed on their lower ends, and screws 28. will extend through said flanges and into thedisk 22.
Bearing collars- 29 and 30 will extend about the bearing supporting studs 24 and 25', and will: extend. through the, small rotatable disks 3| and 32, being attached thereto by the screws 32 and: arranged in: spaced relation from the upper surface of the main disk 22. Ball bearings 34 and 35 willsbe seated in bearing apertures in the metal bearing retaining disks 36 and 31 and will be supported on the upper ends of the bearing supporting studs 24 and 25, said disks being held in spaced relation from the upper surface of the to outline a. circle, and secured to the bottom 2 in any desired manner.
Oppositely disposed permanent magnets .4]; and 42 are supported on the upper surfaces of the small disks 3| and 32.
A pair of radially extending opposed arms ,43 and 44 are secured to the upper surface of the main or large disk 2'2 by means of the screws 45, and support the permanent magnet 46 on their outer ends, and the spring retarding fingers 41 on their inner ends adapted to engage the peripheries of the small disks 3i and 32 to prevent reverse rotation of the same.
As seen from the drawings, the permanent magnets are positioned immediately below the surface if so that when the large disk 22 is rotated by. the motor IS, the smaller disk supporting the magnets 4| and 42 will also be'rotated and the baffle strips 39 will be engaged by the upwardly extending pegs 40', while the springretarding fingers 41 prevent reverse movement of said disk. As the magnets move about under the surface H, the colored capsules I! with the enclosed steel balls l8 will be moved by magnetism to travel up and down the simulated streets and into and out of the various house structures, thereby effectively attracting the attention of persons passing by the store window in which the unique display is positioned.
The number of pegsllll used in the mechanism will be variable and may be placed in different positions to produce different patterns of movemnt of the magnets, which could be adapted to a 'racingcourse or roller rink, or any other desired attraction which might be set over the mechanism,
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that a highly effective and interesting novelty rotary display stand will have been provided. I I
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction "may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
- Having thus described my invention what 'I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent' of, theUnited States is:
' 1. In a novelty rotary display stand including a housing having a bottom and interconnected side walls, a head surface member forming the top for said housing, a .display on said surface member simulating streets leading to open doored building structures, a plurality of capsules containing metal balls disposed on said surface member, a rotatably. mounted disk in said housing, means for driving said disk, a plurality of smaller disks rotatably mounted upon said first. mentioned disk,'means rigidly mounted on said bottom to engage and cause rotation of said smaller disks and permanent magnets supported by said smaller disks directly below said surface member for attracting said metal balls in-said capsules for moving them over said surface member and into and out of said building structures. 2. In a novelty rotary display stand including a housing having a bottom and interconnected side walls a head surface member forming the top forsaid housing, a aisplay on said surface member "simulating streets leading to open doored building structures, a plurality of colored capsules containing metal balls disposed on said surface member, a disk rotatably mounted in said housing, means for rotating said disk, bearing'stu'ds-supported in opposed position on said disk, smaller disksrotatably mounted upon said bearing studs, means rigidly mounted on said bottom' to engage and cause rotation of said smaller disks and permanent magnets supported on said smaller disks forattracting said metal balls in said capsules for moving them over said surface member and into and out of the building structures.
3. In a novelty rotary display stand including a housing having a bottom and interconnected sidewalls, a head surface member forming the top for said housing, a displayon said surface member simulating streets leading to open doored building structures, a plurality of colored capsules containing metal balls disposed-on said surface member, a diskrotatably mounted in said housing, electric. motor for driving said disk, spaced oppositely disposed bearing studs mounted through said disk, bearing elements on theupper ends of said studs, smaller disks positioned about said bearing elements, means rigidly mounted on said bottom to engage and cause rotation of said smaller disks, permanent magnets supported inopposedpositionon the upper surfaces of said smaller disks, and a ball bearing suspension for said smaller disk adapted to support the same in spaced relation from said first mentioned disk.
4. The subject matter as claimed in claim 3, tadiallydisposed slats on thelowersurface of said smaller disks for engaging said means for varying the speed of rotation of said disks.
5. The subject matter as claimed in claim 3, a plurality of radially disposed slat-s on the under surface of said smaller disks, said means comprising annularly arranged pegs secured tosaid bottom for engagement with said slats for engagement therewith for varying the rotation of said smaller disks, and means for preventing a reversed direction of motion of said smaller disks.
