This invention relates to a razor and a holder for same.

Broadly, it is an object of my invention to provide an inexpensive razor and a holder for the blade including a compartment for brushless shaving cream and talcum powder; the said compartment being used to receive the shaved hairs and used cream during the shaving process.

More particularly, it is an object of my invention to provide a reinforced box-like container which is used as a safety razor for a single shave and then discarded.

Another object of my invention is to provide a razor which can be readily dispensed from a vending machine.

For a full understanding of the nature and objects of my invention, reference is had to the following detailed description, in connection with the accompanying drawing in which:

Fig. 7 is a plan view of the blank of the outer housing and blade holder.

Referring to the drawings, numeral I represents a housing for a compartment or drawer II. The housing is made from a single blank of cardboard shown in Fig. '7 and comprises a front I2, bottom I3, back l4, top 15 and platform or blade support iii. The platform I6 has a depressed portion H to receive the blade I8. An Opening I9 is cut in the platform I6 and falls beneath cutout 29 when the blank is formed into the housing I0.

Between front I2 and platform I6 and front I2 and bottom I3 are scored line 2| and 22 respectively. Between bottom I3 and back I4 is a scoring line 23 and between back I4 and top I is a scored line 24.

To form the housing I0, the blank shown in Fig.7 is bent at scored lines 2|, 22, 23 and 24. A blade I8 is set into the depressed portion H, as shown in Fig. 4, and the top I5 is pasted with a suitable adhesive 25 upon the platform It and blade I6. Since the back I4 is slightly higher than front I2, the top I5, blade l8 and platform I6 are sloped toward the front I2 as shown in Figs. 1 and 4. The adhesive 25 covers approximately one-half the blade I8 so that the blade I8 is firmly positioned in the opening 3| formed by cutout 20 and opening I9. The legs 26 and 21 of the top I5 are also pasted to the platform I6, the ends of the legs 26 and 21 being beveled as shown at 28 so that an angle or bevel is presented against the face while shaving. Instead of pasting legs 26 and 21 to the platform, they may be stapled together to hold the blade.

The top edge 29 of front |2,.being lower and in front of the cutting edge 38 of the blade I8, acts as a safety guard to prevent cutting the face while shaving and protects the cutting edge during normal handling of the razor.

The drawer II has two compartments and is made of two pieces of cardboard material shown in Figs. 5 and 6. One piece consists of a back 32, bottom 33, sides 34-34, front 35, bottom flaps 36-36 and front flaps 3I--3'I. A central strengthening partition is the second piece and comprises the partition member 38, a bottom flap 39 and front and back flaps 40-46.

The drawer II is made by pasting bottom flaps 36-36 and front flaps 31-31 to the bottom and front respectively. The central partition is set into the drawer II and the bottom flap 39 and front and back flaps 46-46 are pasted to the bottom 33 and front 35 and back 32, respectively. Back 32 is higher than front 35 and the top of sides 34 slope downward from back to front as shown in Figs. 1 and 4.

In one of the compartments of drawer II a small tube of brushless shaving cream may be placed and in the other compartment a small envelope of face powder can be housed so that the drawer and housing with its razor blade will contain the entire equipment for a shave. After the shaving cream and face powder have been removed, the drawer II is replaced into the housing In so that the drawer II receives the used shaving cream and hairs.

In shaving the entire unit is held between the fingers with the cutting edge 36 of the blade towards the face. The shaved cream and hairs will enter the space 3| and enter the drawer II. After the shave the entire unit is thrown away.

Although I prefer to make the housing and drawer of cardboard, other materials such as plastic, or like materials may be used. When cardboard is used it may be coated with a waterproof composition to prevent the cardboard from disintegrating when it becomes wet.

It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of the invention.

I claim:

1. A razor of the character described comprising a housing made of a single piece of material, an opening at the top of said housing, said opening running to the front of said housing, a blade firmly positioned at said top and within said opening so that its cutting edge faces the front of said housing, a space between said cutting edge and the top edge of said front, said top edge of said front actingl as the safety guard, a, drawer with compartments within said housing to receive the shaved hairs and shaving cream.

A razor of the character described comprising a housing having a front, bottom, back and top, an opening in said top running to said front, a blade positioned in said openingwith its cutting, edge adjacent said front, a space between said cutting edge and the top of said" front, said top of said front acting as a safety guard for said razor, and a drawer within said housing to receive the shaving, cream and shaved hairs.

A razor of the character described having a housing comprising a front, back, bottom and top, said top consisting of two overlapping pieces, a longitudinal opening in said top, said opening running to said front, a depression in one of said overlapping pieces of said top to receive said blade and position it with its cutting edge adjacent said front, a space between said front and said cutting edge to permit the shaving cream and the cut hairs to enter said housing, a drawer within said housing to receive said shaving cream and said out hairs. A blank for a razor consisting of a single piece of material comprising a front, bottom, back, top and platform separated by scoring lines, said top having a cutout at its extreme end, said platform having an opening adjacent its adjoining front, a depressed portion. in said platform to receive a blade, whereby when, said blade is placed within said depressed portion and said blank is folded at its scoring lines with said top overlapping and joined to said platform, the cutting edge of said blade Will appear in the opening created, in said top providing a razor with a safety guard.
