' POTATO MASHER OF WELDED CONSTRUCTION l Filed Jan. 16, 1946 FIG. i
Inventor /sAaonE c. 60mm/v By WW MS Patented June 1, 1948 POTATO MASHER F WELDED CONSTRUCTION Isadore C. Gordean, Los Angeles, Calif. Application January 16, 1946, Serial No. 641,534
1 Claim. 1
The invention as described herein, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, consists of a masher, an object of which is to provide a disk masher with a vertical handle.
Another object of the invention is a masher of metal construction.
A further object of this invention is to provide a mashing disk and means whereby a vertical handle may be xedly secured thereto.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the masher,
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof,
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional detail illustrating means for securing a handle to the mashing disk, and
Figure 4 is a section on line 4-4 Figure l.
While one embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction 'may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances which may arise, without in any way departing from the spirit and intention of the device, which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while there is stated the primary field of utility of the invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the accompanying drawings, and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which I0, refers to the invention and I I, indicates a flat disk to the upper side I2, of which is welded the enlarged outwardly and downwardly tapering lower end I3, of a stem I4, to the upper end I5, of which stem is attached a hand-hold I6, there being an enlargement I1, on said upper end of the stem around which the hand-hold is molded. Also welded upon the surface I2, is an inverted saucerto provide shaped reinforcing disk I8, provided with an annular flange I9, the yraised surface 20, -of which is provided with a bore 22, through which the stem I4, projects. The said flange I9, is recessed on its inner surface to receive a washer 23, also provided with a bore 24, within which the ared base 25, of the enlargement I3, is frctionally held whereby the several members are rigidly connected.
1t is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description isregarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within theV purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described the invention that which is claimed to be new and desired to be procured by Letters Patent is:
A potato masher comprising a disk-shaped mashing head, a stem formed with an enlarged outwardly and downwardly tapering lower end welded to the central upper surface of said mashing head and formed with an anchoring enlargement adjacent its opposite end, a centrally apertured inverted Saucer-shaped reinforcing disk disposed about said stem at the upper end of said tapering lower end portion being welded to the upper surface of said mashing head, and a handle molded upon the upper end of said stem being locked thereto by said anchoring enlargement,
ISADORE C. GORDEAN.
