YThis.invention relatesfto neivandrseful improvementsfina hanging shoe.s1..1ine ki,t bag.
This is a .substitute for my abandonedapplication 4filed on. November .lgliaiserial Number 510.255.
Still further the invent0n,pr0p9s.es theconstruction of. a .hangingshoe shinekit bag, charac terized by a .flexible cover sheet having several the bottom halfwof the coverlsheet may; .be folded.
upwards permitting the bottom openings to be engaged upon the Support elements to Support the kit bag in an inoperative position,
Another object of the invention proposes extending one of the cloth pockets over the fold line of the coversheet with the provision of a means for slidably lsupporting the same ina manner to permit it to move upwards from its position extended across the fold line, permitting the sheet to be folded.
For furtherV comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure:
' Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a hanging shoe shine kit bag constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a partial vertical sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but illustrating the kit bag in its folded inoperative condition.
Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the'pockets, per se.
The hanging shoe shine kit bag, according tol this invention, comprises a flexible coverv sheet.
Ill, preferably constructed of leather, cloth or other similar materials. The edges of the ilexible cover sheet I 0 are protected byl a bias binding material II. The top edge of the ooversheet fs-Claims. (artist-552)' I0,.is prvided with spaced eyelets Ilford-ning` openings permitting the flexible-cover sheet LB to be engaged in: position upon hooks I3v mounted on a,u,1a.1ll. I4. iplurality ofpocketsare mounted upon the/face of the cover sheet 1V IB.: Thatopcf the. coverslfieet. I. isI provided with spaced pockets Irandrl. vOne.ofthese pocketsisadaptedto receive the can of, polish iorbrownv shoes and the brownshoe. polishing cloth, while thevotherof the i, pockets is arranged to receive lthe can of black shoepolsnandtne polishing cloth for black shOeS. Mountedbeneath each of the'l pocketsjlland ldthere are pockets l1 yand I8.;y vThe other small articles used -in polishing shoes. vAll ofthe nooketsIS-Zl ,navetheir edge portions;
" protectedby bias binding.. material 22.
The bottom edge of the cover sheet Illis formed with eyelets 23 arranged in vertical alignment with the eyelets l2. The eyelets 23 provide the bottom edge of the cover sheet II) with openings adapted to be engaged upon the support elements I3 when the bottom edge is folded upwards along the center fold line 24. The folded position of the cover sheet I6 is illustrated in Fig. 3,
"The pocket 20 is extended across the fold line 24 and a means is provided for vertically slidably mounting this pocket, permitting it to be vertically raised from its position across the fold line 24 when the bottom edge of the cover sheet IE! is folded upwards. The pocket 20 is formed upon a rigid member 24 which is formed with upwardly extended rigid arms 25. These rigid arms 25 are provided with elongated vertically arranged slots-26 which' are engaged upon complementary support studs 21 mounted on the face of the cover sheet I0. The engagement 0f the slots 26 with the support studs 21 permits the arms 25 to move upwards carrying the pocket 20 therewith, The pocket I9 located above the pocket 20 is attached to the cover sheet I0 only along its top edge, permitting its bottom edge to depend freely over the top ends of the arms 26. This permits the arms 26 to slide upwards between the adjacent faces of the pocket I9 and the cover sheet I0.
The manner of using thekit bag is as follows:
Normally, the cover sheet I0 will be as illustrated in Fig. 1 and will have its pockets filled with the required articles for shining shoes. These articles may be removed from the pocket and used, and then returned to their positions within the pocket-s. Upon completing a shine the cover sheet may be folded into its inoperative position, shown in Fig. 3. To do this it is merely necessary to lift upwards on the bottom edge of the cover sheet l to engage the eyelets 23 on the support elements I3. When this bottom edge is folded upwards it will cause the pocket 20 to be moved upwards from its normal position across the fold line 24, as permitted by the engagement of the studs 21 with the slots 25 formed in the pliable member 25 which supports the pocket 2l). When the cover sheet is reopened to the position shown in Fig. 1, the weight of the materials in the pocket 20 will cause it to slide downwards to its normal position across the fold line 24.
While I have illustrated and described the pre ferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modications coming within the scope of the invention as deiined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. A hanging shoe shine kit having a flexible cover sheet supported along its top edge with its free bottom edge foldable upwards along a center line into a closing position, a pocket for articles, said pocket extending across said center fold line in the downward depending position of said cover sheet, and means slidably supporting said pocket on said cover sheet causing it to move upand clear of said center fold line when the bottom of said cover sheet is folded upward-s permitting folding along said center line 4irrespective of articles in said pocket, said means comprising rigid arms extending from the top edge of said pocket and formed with vertical slots, and studs mounted on said cover sheet above said center fold` line and freely passing through said slots.
2. A hanging shoe shine kit having a iiexible cover sheet supported along its top edge with its free bottom edge foldable upwards along a center line into a closing position, a pocket for articles, said pocket extending across said center fold line in the downward depending position of said cover sheet, and means slidably supporting said pocket on Asaid cover sheet causingv it to move up and clear of said center fold line when the bottom .of said cover sheet is folded upwards permitting "folding along said center line irrespective of articles in said pocket, said means comprising rigid arms extending from the top edge of said pocket and formed with Vertical slots, and studs mounted on said cover sheet above said center fold line and freely passing through said slots, a rigid sheet mounted on the back wall of said pocket and said rigid arms being integrally formed Awith said rigid sheet and extended vertically upwards therefrom.
3. A hanging shoe shine kit having a flexible cover sheet supported along its top edge with its free bottom edge foidab-le upwards along a center line into a closing position, a pocket for articles, said pocket extending across said center fold line in the downward depending position of said cover sheet, and means slidably supporting said pocket on said cover sheet causing it to move up and clear of said center fold'line when the bottom of said cover sheet is folded upwards permitting folding along said center line irrespective of articles in said pocket, said means comprising rigidI arms extending from the top edge of said pocket formed with vertical slots, and studs
