Description

' l, 1948. c. E. HAQRIS 9 MEANS FOR CONNECTING THE DOBBY JACK AND THE HARNESS FRAME OF A LOOM Filed Feb. 26, 1946 INVENTOR. r Clam/70a 1 Her/"1s Patented Mar. 16, 1948 UNiTED STATES T OFFICE MEANS FOR CONNECTING THE BOBBY JACK AND THE HARNESS FRAME OF A LOOM 1 Claim. 1
My invention relates to looms and more particularly to means for connecting the dobby jack with the harness frame of a loom.
The object of my invention is to provide a means for easily connecting the harness cord with the dobby jack or harness frame actuator and the harness frame.
Another object of my invention is to provide such connecting means which eliminate friction between said means and the harness cord as far as possible.
Other objects of my invention may appear in the following specification describing my invention with reference to the accompanying drawing illustrating a preferred embodiment of my invention. It is however to be understood that my invention is not to be limited or restricted to the exact construction and combination of parts described in the specification and shown in the drawing, but that such changes and modifications can be made, which fall within the scope of the claim appended hereto.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a diagrammatical front view of parts of a loom equipped with the harness frame connection according to my invention.
Figure 2 is a detail view of a connection member between the dobby jack or harness frame actuator and the harness cord,
Figure 3 is a detail view of a harness cord end screw according to my invention, and
Figure 4 is an illustration of the method to connect the harness cord end with the harness frame if the end screw is screwed into the harness cord as shown in Figure 3.
Referring now in detail to the drawing a loom frame supports two sheaves ll rotatably. A dobby jack or harness frame actuator 12 is provided in its outer edge with a plurality of semicircular notches !3 arranged at regular intervals from each other,
A connecting member [4 has two prongs I5 extending parallel to each other. Each of these prongs has a rectangular cross section. At one end they form a body [6 through which a hole I? extends. The outer end of the body is curved so that the end surface of the body is concave. That part of the inner surface of the hole I? located adjacent the body end surface runs parallel to the concaved curve thereof to form a bearing for the harness cord.
Adjacent the other end of the prongs IS a pin I8 extends through the two prongs and a grooved roller I9 is mounted rotatably on the pin between the prongs.
The dobby jack 12 extends between the prongs i5 and the roller 19 engages selectively one of the semi-circular notches [3 in the jack.
A harness cord 2%! extends through the hole I? in the body it and is trained over the sheaves I I. Two end screws 2! are screwed into the harness frame 22 of the loom and the harness cord ends are fastened to these screws.
The end screw according to my invention has a threaded shank 23, and a bifurcated portion 24 comprising prongs 25. A pin 28 extends through these prongs adjacent their ends and a grooved roller 21 is rotatably mounted on the pin 26 between the prongs 25.
If desired the end screws 2| can be screwed into the ends of the harness cord 20 and then the screw hooks 28 commonly provided in the harness frame engage the rollers 2? on the end screw 2! as shown in Figure 4,
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a loom harness frame actuator connector, the combination, which comprises, a dobby cord and jack associated with a loom frame, said jack adapted for reciprocatory action, a dobby head loop comprising a connecting member with spaced parallel fiat prongs integral at one end with a head member of greater width than that of the prongs and having an arcuate eye extending therethrough from side to side with the eye curved in a plane parallel to that of the prongs, a roller pivotally mounted between the opposite ends of the prongs positioned to engage with spaced notches in the harness frame actuator, a screw attached to the end of the dobby cord extending through the dobby head loop for attaching the cord to a harness frame, and a roller pivotally mounted in the end of said screw to which the end of the dobby cord is attached.
