Description

Nov, 18, 1930. L. B. BRAY 1,781,975
HANE HOOK Filed June 9, 1930 A flomey Patented Nov. 18, 1930 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE LITTLE B. Bangor BoNAmE, GEORGIA mun noo Application filed June 9, 1930. Serial'No. 460,004.
This invention relates to improvements in hame hooks, and it consists in the novel con struction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter shown and described. The primary object of the present invention is to provide a simple, compact, durable and inexpensive device of this character which may be securely fastened to the hame without loosening the same. j
The above and numerous other objects will become more apparent, as the invention is best understood from astudy of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of the hook, Figure 2 is a side or edge elevational view thereof,
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the same showing it as applied to the staple of a hame. The improved device consists of a stock 5 formed from a metal plate having an L- shaped transverse recess to provide atrans verse hook 6 to receive the eye at the forward end of the trace (not shown). The hook 6 at the end of the bill thereof is rovided with an inwardly directed extension terminating in spaced relation to the inner end of the inclined or obliquely disposed edge 8 of the plate'5, whereby to provide a contracted or reduced entrance opening into the L-shaped recess to insure retaining of the eye of the trace in engagement with the hook in a manner apparent.
At the opposite end thereof, the plate 5 has projecting therefrom a pair of spaced arms or shanks 9, which are oifset inwardly tion, inexpensive to manufacture, and is well adapted for the purpose designed.
Even though I have herein shown and described thepreferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that the same is susceptibleto changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as'described, and the scope of the appended claim. I
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is: A. hame hook formed froma single length of material and comprising a relatively flat plate like body portion provided with. an L-shaped notch opening inwardly from one side edge of the plate, intermediate the ends of the'plate, and having an inner portion ex- .tendingparallel to the longitudinal axes of the plate, and a second portion extending substantially obliquely to the longitudinal axes of the plate whereby to provide a -substantially circuitouspassage for theadmission of the eye of a trace, spaced parallel coextensive arms integral with said body and projecting therefrom adjacent one end ofthebody, said arm being offset inwardly relative to the plate, and said arms merging into hooks, said last mentioned hooks being arranged in transverse alinement relative to said body and having their planes at right angles to the plane of said body, said last mentioned hooks adapted to engage the staple of a hame.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
