My invention relates to a toy adapted to be dropped and separated into parts to simulate breaking up and to be reassembled for repeated use.

It is among the objects of this invention to provide a toy for the education and amusement of a child; to supply a toy formed of parts that when dropped will appear to break for the surprise, delight, and entertainment of a child; to create such a toy constructed of material that will withstand actual breakage and which can be reassembled for repeated simulated break-ups; to provide a toy which will teach and demonstrate story and action to a child; to create a toy that will satisfy the instincts of a child and instruct rehabilitation and reconstruction.

My invention also contemplates such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.

While I have shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred form of my invention, yet I wish it understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of my break-up toy; Fig. 2 is a side elevational view; Fig. 3 is a rear elevational view; and Fig. 4 is a disassembled view of the component parts of the same.

The embodiment selected to illustrate my invention comprises a body member l simulating the torso of a human being, but with an open top l l and an open bottom l2. An enlarged head l3, preferably egg-shaped and having a flat bottom i4 is formed of two interengaging pieces l5 and I6. The front piece [5 has comical human features IT and the back piece id contains a nursery rhyme IS. The head [3 is so formed that its bottom fits within body member [0. The head l3 has a groove IS on which is positioned hat 20. The hat 20 helps to hold pieces l5 and I6 together. Arms 2! and 22 and legs 23 and 24 each have pegs 25 to fit into holes 26 in body member ID by slight friction grip.

The foregoing parts are all packed for storage in box 27 on the outside of which is pictured a wall 28. In use the above named parts are properly assembled as heretofore set forth, and the toy which now resembles Humpty Dumpty is placed on top of the wall 28 of box 21. The toy is then pushed off the wall and falls on the floor, table, or other surface on which the box is supported. Hat 20 falls off head l3. While I have shown for purposes of illustration an illustrative break-up toy, yet my invention contemplates other embodiments in which there are a plurality of associated parts adapted to beseparated by a normal fall to a floor, table, or other surface to simulate a broken toy, and which is so constructed as to withstand actual breakage and may be repeatedly built u and separated by falls for a childs amusement and instruction. My toy will also have a nursery rhyme or other message printed or written thereon, which will be at least in part reenacted or demonstrated to the child by the break-up.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A break-up toy of substantially non-breakable separable parts, a box for holding said parts, said box having a picture of a Wall on one side extending to the top of the box, said parts comprising a body with an open top, a head formed of a plurality of pieces, the lower portion of said head removably positioned in theopen top of said body, said head having features on its front portion and a nursery rhyme on its back portion telling the story of a fall, a hat removably positioned on said head, arms and legs removably attached to said body, said toy assembled adapted to be positioned on top of the wall of said box, said toy adapted when pushed off said box to fall in accordance with said nursery rhyme and separate into said parts to simulate a break-up, said parts adapted to be reassembled.
