(Ci. l0-70) 1 Claim. l
My invention relates to improvements in dis-y upon the same, and a second section having changeable or partial sectors or divisions upon which certain particular information or indicia is placed so that by rotating or shifting one or the sections this data is visible, such for example as the data in one particular section only.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide an improved changeable display de'n vice of a type which may either be selfsupporting as with an easel, or which may be hung upon a suitable support.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a comparatively simple changeable display device of the type described so arranged that one section of the same will display permanent data and another movable section will display diierent data when moved, as for example, by rotating the movable section to show diierent months of the year.
A further object of the invention is te provide an improved display device of the type described which may be utilized, for example, as a telephone directory, a calendar, price cards, time tables, bulletins, menu card or for any other similar use.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a device of the type described which is extremely simple in construction and which conn sists of as little as two parts.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the type described so arranged that it is easily and simply constructed and the use of which is easily understandable.
Other objects and advantages will be more apparent from the following description wherein reference may be had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, upon which Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a stand type of display device constructed in accordance with my invention;
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View through the same taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of a modied form of the invention illustrating the type of display thatv can be hung upon a nail or other support; and
Fig, 4 is a vertical sectional View through the o same taken on the lines 4-4 of Fig. 3.
In the embodiment of the invention which I have chosen to illustrate, in Fig. 1 I have shown a generally disc-shaped panel i8 provided adjacent its upper end with .a sector shaped slot i2.
The slot may be formed by cutting a pair of lateral slots lli and it through the member li! and bending back the flap I8. A ring-shaped member 2a may now be disposed over the ilap I8 with its inner edge 22 resting upon the shoulder 24 formed by bending back the flap it. In order to keep the lower portion of the member 29 against the back of the panel lil, I provide the guide flap 26 secured to the back of the panel it and overlapping for a short distance the ring-shaped member 2d. In order for the device to be self-supporting, I provide the easel leg 28 secured to the back of the member I0.
.'Ihe parts as thus described may be made of paper, thin Bakelite, metal or any other suitable or desirable material, and when thus assembled form a display device which permits indicia upon diflerent portions of the ring shaped member 20 to be visible through the slot l2. For example, I have shown in the drawings the month January being displayed in the above mentioned opening. The panel lil may have permanent indicia such for example as the insurance rates generally shown upon the same, and the ring shaped member 2Q may have the twelve months of the year printed upon the same about the surface so that it can be turned to show in the display slot any desired month.
From the above description it will be obvious that I have provided a very simple construction of display stand which provides permanent data upon one portion of the same and has a rotatable ring-shaped member with different indicia on various portions of the same s0 that by turning the ring-shaped member, any desirable data thereon can be disclosed. It will further be obvious that data may be placed upon both sides oi the ring-shaped member 2i) so that it can be turned over for the data upon the opposite side if desired.
in Fig. 3 I have shown a modified form of the invention wherein I have extended the iiap 18a and have provided the same with an opening 3i] to receive a nail or suitable support so that the same can be hung upon the wall. In the particular embodiment of the device illustrated in Figs. 3 and 4i, I have shown, for example, an advertisement such as Browns Handy Telephone Directory upon the permanent data member lil, and telephone directory upon the rotatable ring shaped member 2Q. Also, instead of providing a window which is open to the periphery of the member it as shown in Fig. 1, I have provided sector shaped opening E2@ which may extend to a point adjacent the periphery of the member i@ where it is closed by a separate strip I3 fastened between the edges of the opening in other words the iiap ita is an integral part of the panel being bent back with the shoulder 2d and upwardly as shown. The strip i3 is fastened between the .edges of -slot |211 closing .thesame to provide the sector vshaped opening or `.Window |2a. At the lower side of the panel I0 I provide the ap member 32, so that the member 20 may be guided in rotation on the ap 32 and the shoulder 24. While I havelshown this modified form of the invention as suitable forlhanging fon the wall, I also contemplate that themembver I0 might be a box top, cigarette box cover, pencil box cover, or any other suitable member 'Sbehind which it is desired to have a'movable sectionwith groups of indicia which can be moved so that one group may appear through the opening.
From the above and foregoing description it will be 4apparent to thoseskilled in the `art that my improved display device may be used for a .large .Variety of dataindca'tingpurposes. `While I have ,shown in the drawings only two V(if Tits A.obvious uses, it will be apparent that all ofthe many uses hereinbefore mentioned can be "had withthis device. WhileIJ have illustrated and de- `-scribed aspecic-embocliment of the vinvention,
it will be apparent to thoseis'killedinthe ,art that `changes and modications vmaylbevmade ,in the .combination xof va disc-.shaped .member ,having a .aseotoreshaped Qpening formed therein :adjacent .memberhaving a .secondilap engaging the .inner edge ,of said lringshaped member to .guide .the same during its rotation.
