Description

Nov. 4, 1947. T. o. JOHNSON TIE FORM Filed Oct. 18, 1945 Inventor [Zw/z as Jama/z.
Patented Nov. 4, 1947 UNITED STATES PATENT' OFFICE 2,430,021 TIE FORM Thomas O. Johnson, Richmond, Calif. v
Application October 18, 1945,` Serial No. 623,046
1 Claim.
My invention relates to improvements in necktie forms and has for an object to provide means for holding a tie in fixed position.
Another object of the invention is to provide a tie form adapted to hold the depending loose ends properly spread.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a rear elevational View of a four-inhand or other like tie embracing my invention,
Figure 2 is a front elevational view thereof,
Figure 3 is a side view Iof my device detached from the tie,
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 2, and
Figure 5 is an end View detail of one member of the device.
In the above drawings as well as in the speciiication to follow, the same characters of reference indicate the same parts throughout.
In the drawings, I indicates my invention which consists of a vertically disposed arcuate wire I I, to which is attached intermediately thereof =a transverse wire I2. The upper end I3, of the wire I I, is returned upon itself as at I4, being slightly spaced from the part I3, and is then returned again as at I5, and terminates in a relatively large ring I 6. The lower end of Wire II is bent into a ring I'I, and terminates in a pin point I8. The wire I2 is provided at its outer ends I9 and 20, both of which terminate in respective pins 2I :and 22, with rings 23 and 24.
In using the above described device the ring I6 is slipped under a fold of a four-in-hand tie as indicated in Figures 1 and 2, and the hook device25, formed by the bends I4 and I5, is caught under a fold of the tie, whereby the device is held to the knot 26, of the tie from the rear or inner portion thereof. The pin I8 is then projected into the tail portion 21, of the tie and the wings 28 and 29, thereof are spread apart and its edges 30 and 3| engaged by the pin points 2| and 22, whereby the entire tie is held in proper and uniform position as indicated in Figure 2.
As above stated, the member II is arcuate to Number 'Number both conform somewhat to the shape of the wearers breast and also to hold the body of the tie out of contact with the person. I also may provide the connection 32, Ibetween the cross wire I2 and the vertical wire II, with a vertical Ibore 33, whereby themember32 may be vertically moved uD or down upon member I I, for suitable adjustment thereof relative to a particular tie, the arcuate member I l passing through the vertical bore will bind therein and hold the member 32 in adjusted position.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the'invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described my invention, that which I claim as new and desire to procure `by Letters Patent is:
A tie form comprising a vertically extending bowed bar, a keeper slidably mounted thereon, a transversely extending bowed bar supported in xed position upon said keeper, loops formed at the ends of said bars extending rearwardly therefrom, and necktie engaging pointed extremities formed on said loops.
THOMAS O. JOHNSON.
