1 Claim.

The invention relates to footwear, and more especially to boots, shoes, soles and insoles.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of footwear of this character, wherein the entirety thereof is made up from plastic material, or soles and insoles therefor, and the parts thereof are electronically joined, for invisible tacking of the same together, so that'the finished product will be fully waterproof, as well as assuring increased wearing quality thereto.

Another object of the invention is the provision of footwear of this character, wherein its upper, sole, insole, heel and tongue will effect a one-piece integral set-up, in the finished product.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a. footwear of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and elcient in its completed product, strong, durable, neat in appearance, fully waterproof, comfortable in the wearing thereof, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, showing the preferred and modified forms of construction, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Figure 1 is a, perspective view of a shoe of the low style type constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary longitudinal sectional view thereof.v

Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional view showing a continuous fused seam between adjacent portions of the shoe.

Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.

Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 3 looking in the directlon'of the arrows.

Figure 8 is a view similar to Figure 3 showing spot fusing, as a modification thereof.

Referring to the drawing In detail, A designates generally an article of footwear, shown as a lowshoe, which includes an upper, a soie, heel, tongue 2 and insole, I0, II, I2, I3 and I4, respectively, which are of the usual or conventional set-up, excepting that all are made from plastic material, molded or otherwise created. The present invention has to do with the joining of these parts or units, one with thel other, and in one instance,

the meeting areas of adjacent parts are joined by a continuously fused seam I5, which is effected by an electronic sewing machine, not shown, or otherwise, as best seen in Figures 3 to 5 inclusive, of the drawing.

In Figures 6 and 7 of the drawing, there is shown fused spots I6 of tackings, for the joining of the parts I1 and I8, together, this being a slight modification of the invention, and this procedure may be carried forth in constructing the shoe in the seaming set-up therein where it can be advantageously done, and at the same time affording a. waterproof character to the said shoe.

The upper I0 of the shoe can be variably colored, this being accomplished by introducing coloring dye to the plastic substance.

In Figures 9 and 10, of the drawing, there is shown an example of a high shoe and boot, I9 and 20, constructed as hereinbefore set forth, and in accordance with the present invention.

In Figure `2 of the drawing, the tip 2I is identified by a cross strip or strap formation 22, while the sole 23 has embedded therein tread inserts 2l.

What is claimed is:

In a shoe, a plastic sole of usual configuration, a plastic upper with inturned edges positioned upon the said sole, and a plastic insole positioned on the sole with the edges thereof overlapping the inturned marginal edges of the upper, the said inturned marginal edges .of the upper being spot fused to the overlapping edges oi' the insole and also to the sole of the shoe.
