1 Claim.
The present invention relates to screen printing tables.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a screen printing table having an improved form of heating means for quickly drying the screen printed material.
Another object is the provision of a screen printing table combining a sure source of heated air uniformly delivered throughout the entire length and breadth of the screen.
A further object is the provision of a screen printing table including a positive drying means utilizing steam heat which need not be PIOdllCed in high quantity during a given period of time.
Still another object is the provision of drying means for screen printing tables of conventional form and design, said drying means being adapted to any conventional screen printing table.
These and other objects are attained by mechanism shown in the accompanying drawing in which- Fg. 1 is a perspective view of a screen printing table incorporating the drying means herein described and claimed, said table and the screen thereon being broken away to expose the heating elements;
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section through the screen printing table shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section of the table top, said section being drawn on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2.
Referring now to Fig. l, it will be seen that the table I is provided with a metal screen top I.I which is covered with an intermediate layer of felt l2 and a top layer of muslin I3. It will be noted that below screen II is a chamber or compartment I4. Reference to Figs. 1 and 2 will show that this chamber is coextensive with the screen and that it is open to the screen as well as to a box I situated at one end of said table.
Carried in the chamber I4 is a steam pipe I6 which is connected at its inlet end I1 with a source of steam supply (not shown). It will be noted that the pipe is wound back and forth in the chamber, forming six longitudinal portions substantially equidistant from each other. It will also be noted that box I5 contains a blower I8 operated by means of an electric motor I9 in the usual manner. One Iof the sides of box I5 comprises a screen 2U through which the blower draws in fresh air. Arrows 2| indicate the direction taken by the fresh air drawn in by the blower after it leaves the blower. It will be seen that the fresh air is blown up into chamber I4 where it circulates around steam pipe I6. In the chamber, the fresh air becomes heated and still under the influence of blower .I 8, it is forced up through screen I I, layer of felt I2, layer of muslin I3 and the work (not shown) It will be seen that a substantial improvement in the art has herein been shown and described. Variations which may occur to men skilled in the art may be incorporated into the device without departing from the principles of the invention. For example, the steam pipe may be wound in different ways from that shown in the drawing. Also, instead of a steam pipe, electric heating means or other heating means may be used. The blower I8 need not be situated at one end of the table but instead it may be situated in the center thereof. In place of a blower, any air pumping means may be used.
I claim:
A screen printing device including a table having a screen top comprising a screen, a felt layer covering said screen and a layer of muslin covering said felt, a chamber immediately below said screen top and coextensive therewith, said chamber being open to said screen top, a steam pipe in said chamber which loops back and forth to form a plurality of horizontally disposed portions of substantially equal length, extending from one end to the other of said chamber, a blower at one end of the table communicating at its inlet end with the atmosphere and at its outlet Aend with said chamber, whereby fresh air is drawn into said chamber where it is heated by said steam pipe and the heated air is forced out of said chamber through said screen top.
JOHN B. KOZLOFF.
