SPECIFICATION forming' part of Letters Patent No. 241,729, dated May 17, 1,881.
Application filed October 23, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PETER SGHNETDEE, of Brookston, in the county of White and State of Indiana, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Breast-Straps; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specication, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representa-tion of a top view of this invention. Fig. 2 is a detail,in perspective, showin g the construction, and Figs. 3 and 4' are transverse sections.
This invention relates to breast-straps; and it consists in the device hereinafter specified.
In the annexed drawings, A is a breast-strap having snap-hooks or buckles for attachment to the haine-rin gs and curved plate for the neck-yoke end.
Hcretofore it has been customary to make the body portion B of the strap of several contin nous pieces of leather sewed together, which was expensive.

In my construction I make the bodly portion B of an outsidecoverin g, b, and illingpieces, bf, of scrap leather, such as is commonly found about shops. By this construction I utilize the waste stock, and make a cheaper article.
I am aware that the soles and heels of boots and shoes have been made of an outer wearingsurface entire and a filling of scrap pieces, and I make no claim to such article.
What I claim is- As an improved article ot' manufacture, a breast-strap for harness, composed of an outer wearing-surface constructed of a single piece of leather, a filling of scrap or waste leather, and the snap-hooks and yoke-iron, substantially as herein shown and described.
