ANlMAL-POKE.
SPECIFICATION formng part of Letters Patent No. 241,675, dated May 17, 1881.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, A. LARROWE and ER- WIN LARROWE, of Cohocton, in the county of Steuben and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvenents in Aninal-Pokes; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to-the acconpan vin g drawings, and to the letters ot' reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification. This inventiou relates to a new animal-poke, which is provided with a fiat perforated springshield concealing the sharp points of the pins b I), together with an adjuster, for the purpose of controlling the action of the'spring-shield.
The poke consists of a yoke or how, B, crossbar A, secured to the edge of the yoke by bolts g g, a fiat perforated spring-sheld, D, and throat-latoh C. From the cross-bar A project two or more sharp-pointed pins, b b, through it. Also, the adjuster G passes at Z. The adjuster, which is rigidly secured to the shield at f, is provided with two nuts, a a', for the a purpose of regulating, adjusting, and control- (Model) vided with sharp points and do not have this safety attachment. The spring-shield is perforated for the passage of the pins, and is secured to the bar A by screws d d at either end. The holes through which the screws pass are elongated to allow the free operation of the spring-shield.
The throat-latch is provided with a huckle, so that it can be adjusted to the neeks of different-sized animals.
Having thus described our invention, what we clain as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In an animal-poke, the cross-har A, the bow B, and the fiat perforated spring-sheld D, in combination with the adjuster G and pointed pins b b, substantially as set forth.
2. An animal-poke consisting of the bow B, throat-latch G, cross -bar A, flat perforated spring-shield D, pointed pins I b, and adjuster G, all oonstructed and arranged to operate as and for the purposes set forth. r
