SAIL FOR FORE-AND-AFT-RIGGED VESSELS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 24,157, dated May 24, 18159.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. WASHINGTON STEWART, of Cambridge, in the county of Dorchester and State of Maryland, have invented an Improvement in the Foresail of Vessels, and that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the principle or character which distinguishes it from all other things before known and of the usual' manner of making, modifying, and using the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, of which the figure is a side view of the vessel with the improved sail.
My invention consists in combining with the fore sail of sailing vessels a clue sail in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
