2 Claims. l
This invention relates to certain novel improvements in garter construction and the like and has for its principal object the provision oi an improved construction which Will provide non-slip qualities to the garter.
Another object of the invention is to provide the garter with means for preventing the slipping thereof which may be arranged in conjunction with a suitabie fabric covering to enhance the appearancethereof.
A further object of the invention is to provide a garter that is simple in construction, efficient in operation and can be manufactured at a nominal cost.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of an embodiment oi the invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view showing the manner in which the garment is joined, and Figure 3 is a modified form of the invention.
Referring more in detail to the drawing the reference numeral l indicates the improved garter which is made from a section of rubber tubing i2. The tubing i2 is covered by a tubular textile covering lli, which may be of any color or material desired. The manner in which the tubing is connected as shown in Figure 2 is Covered by Patent 1,815,267 and does not enter into the present invention .but is shown for purposes of illustration only. It will be seen however that a small section or tubing IE is inserted in the ends of the tubing I2 and retained therein by adhesive and that a section of rubber tubing I8 is positioned over the joined ends of the tubing and fabric as shown.
This invention relates more particularly to the textile covering I4 and the manner in which it provided with non slip qualities.
Thread or oord 20 of Similar or different texture is spirally Wound about the garter" i0 and is retained thereon by means of strands 22 of the textile covering I4. The cord Etis so fixed in the covering that by using different colors the appearance of the garter will be enhanced. The ridges thus formed by the cord 20 will prevent the garter from siipping when in use.
In Figure 3, the cord 2G is spirally Wound on the garter ID in one direction and the cord 24 is spira-Uy Wound o-n the garter It in the opposite direction thus the cords are criss-crossed as at 26 to provide )(-shaped` ridges to prevent the slipping of the garter. Strands '22 retain the cord. on tne covering it as previously described.
Thus there has been provided a garter which by its construction is endowed with non-slipping qualities which is simple in construction. and enicient in use.
It is believed that the construction and purpose for which the invention was designed Will be clear to those skilled in the .art and it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
l. A device of the character described, comprising a garter made from a section of rubber tub-ing, a textile tubular covering on said garter and a cord spirally wound on the covering and retained thereon by strands of said covering to prevent slipping of said garter.
2. The invention as in claim 1 wherein a second cord is spirally wound on said covering in reverse direction to said first cord.
