3 1 Claim.
The invention relates to improvement in honey presses especially adapted for removing honey from cappings removed from honey combs, and has for its primary object the provision of an improved construction of the character indicated which is highly efficient in use.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
' The invention consists of the combinations and arrangements of part hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of the specification and in which- Fig. l is a perspective view of a honey press embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof;
Fig. 3 is a side view thereof;
Fig. 4 is a section taken substantially on line 4-4 of Fig. 2; and i 1 Fig. 5 ,is a section taken substantially on line 1 The embodiment of the invention illustrated in th drawing comprises a suitable draining table In in the form of a shallow elongated rectangular pan or receptacle arranged in an inclined position and supported at its lower end bysupporting members II and at ing members 12. The supporting members I2 are extended vertically as shown to constitute the sides l3 of'a frame having a cross head or-abutment l4 extending across. the upper end thereof. A similar cross head I5 is arrangedv across the lower supports l2 just under the table I to furnish stout support therefor. 'I'ie bolts l6 are arranged as indicated adjacent the members I4 and i to further secure the frame parts together.
A drain opening i1 'is arranged a indicated at the table II] and with which a drain pipe or other means for collecting or removing honey drained from the table 10, is connectedr Deflectors l8 are arranged as indicated to deflect drainings from the table ll! to said opening l1. V V
Combined drain and slide ribs l9 are arranged longitudinally as shown on the top of the table NJ for supporting and facilitating th sliding of press containers 20 thereon. Additional ribs H are interspersed between the rib 19 under the frame l3-l4 to furnish furthersupport for the its upper end by supporthas been thus formed in the container.
to be limited as to the 2 tioning of containers within said screw 23 is arranged as shown to the frame I3I4 and a follower in the tops of the container 20 for'exerting pressure on the comb cappings in said containers, as will be readily understood.
In operation, the operator standing opposite the splash guard 25 removes the cappings from the honey comb in the usual way, depositing the same in one of the containers 20 positioned opposite said splash guard 25. When said container filled with cappings, the same is shoved along the table towards the upper end thereof and an empty one substituted therefor.
frame. A jack cooperate with This process i repeated unti1 one of the containers is thus brought under the jack screw 23, whereupon a top follower 24 is inserted therein and pressure exerted thereon by means'of the jack screw 23, as will be readily understood. A section of cheese cloth is usually placed under the bottom of the container and over the top thereof to facilitate the pressing operation and the 'subsequent removal of cake from the press container. In this way the retained honey will be readily pressed from the cappings and a cake of wax When the pressing process has been completed, the containers are removed and later opened for the removal of the wax cake therefrom, as will be readily understood. The specific form and arrangement of parts is a simple and effective one for the purpose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying the invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I therefore do not wish precise details disclosed, but. desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim: A -A press of the class specified comprising an ingclined draining table in the form of a shallow said press containers when they are being subjected to pressure. 7 provided on the uprights l3 to facilitate posi- Suitable side guides 22 are pan having draining means at its lower end and elevated sliding ribs on its top surface to facilicontainer thereon; a
tate the sliding (of a press press frame arranged over and around the upper end of said table; and a pressing jack cooperating with said frame to compress material in a container resting on said table.
