Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN C. MILLER, of South Frankfort, in the county of Benzie and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rein Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or gures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- Figure l shows a front viegv of the device' with the strap attached. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1, showing a modified form of frame.

This invention relates to devices for attaching reins to the bit-rings, and is designed to take the place of the billets in ordinary use.

The invention consists in the construction hereinafter indicated.

In the annexed drawings, A is a metal tug, having at one end the snap-hook a and the loops a a" and slot a".

U is a wedge, having a pin, c.

D is a portion of a rein, having the hole d.

In putting the device together, the rein D is slipped through the loops a a. The pin o of Wedge O is inserted into hole d with the inclined portion of the wedge toward the loop a. The rein is then pulled until the wedge is jammed under the loop a. In case loop a should break, the wedge would slide along to loop a, the end of pin .c sliding in slot a". To then attach the rein and tug to the bitring it is only necessary to snap the hook over the ring.

Fig. 3 shows'a modification intended for round reins. The tug B is made tubular. Through the tube b the rein is slipped, the wedge inserted as before, and bearing against the end b of tube b, the upper portion, c, of said tube performing the function and being the equivalent of the loop upon the tug A.

In a rein attachment, the metal tug A, having a snap-hook, a', at one end, and the loops a a and slot a, in combination with the wedge C, having pin c, constructed and operating substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
