8 Claims; (Cl. 139-255) The present invention relates to the bobbin receptacles for looms and, as illustrated herein,

Receptacles are permit ready removal andfreand into bobbin receiving posiprovided, in automatic looms,
to receive and collect empty filling carriers or bobbins as they are projected from the shuttle by an incoming filled bobbin or filling carrier. These receptacles are usually positioned below the shuttle box of the loom to receive the empty bobbins andare usually so located that they" dd not obstruct the passageway between theloorns. It is difiicult to reach into such receptacles when they are in bobbin receiving position because of interfering overhanging parts of the loom. It is desirable, therefore; to provide supporting means for permitting the receptacle to be swung out of normal bobbin receiving position to Permit 'of convenient removal of bobbins from the receptacle. In present commercial constructions, it is usually necessary manually to return the receptacles to bobbin receiving position and as a result, the passageway between the, looms is often unnecessarily obstructed,
One object of the presentinvention, therefore, is to provide improved means for supporting a bobbin or filling carrier receptacle in'filling car rier or bobbin receiving position and for permitting the bobbinreceptacle to be moved into position to permit bobbins to be removed therefrom and then to return automatically to bobbin receiving position. To this end, and in accordance with one feature of the invention, a pair of supporting members are provided, one being fixed to the loomside and the other being fixed to or formedas a part of the filling carrier receptacle, said supporting members being arranged to interengage and support the receptacle in filling carrier receivingposition and arranged for angular movement relatively to each other to permit the receptacle to be moved out of filling carrier receiving position. The illustrated receptacle is formed of heavy cloth such, for example, as duck or canvas but it is evident that a rigid receptacle formed of wood or metal couldbe used if so desired. 1

The invention is shown inthe drawings: as being applied to an automatic loom of the filling replenishing type and which is of usual and well known construction. Consequently, only so much of the righthandside of the loom isshown and described as is necessary to a complete understanding of the present invention.
As shown in Figsal and 2, the filling or bobbin'receptaclej I0 is mounted on the righthand side of the loom. Only a portion of the right hand side frame l 2, thereciprocating lay l4 and the rotatable battery l6 are shown. The other parts of the loom are of 'usual construction and, accordingly; are not described herein. 7
The reciprocating lay is provided with a shuttle box l8 into and out of which the shuttle (not shown) is picked by a picker stick. When the filling on the filling carrier in the shuttle is substantially exhausted, the parts of the mechanism are conditioned to transfer a-new filling carrier from the rotatable battery l6 and into the shuttle to replace the. exhausted or substantially exhausted filling carrier which is ejected through the hollow of the shuttle and into the bob-bin receptacle l0.
The receptacle I 0, shown in the drawings, is preferably formed, of, flexible textile material, such as duck, but it lmay be made of other suitable material if so desired. The receptacle H1 is generally substantially trapezoidal in cross section but it may be of, any other suitable shape if so desired. The illustrated receptacle I0 is of substantially thesame shape as the receptacle shown and described in an application for United StatesLetters Patent Serial #483,094 filed April 15, 1943, now Patent No. 2,350,317 in the names of Edward C. Nichols and Willard C. French.

When it is desired to place the receptacle iii. in bobbin receiving position, the receptacle is grasped at the forward end 54. of the frame and the lip 44 of the member 40 is received in the groove 38 of the member 26. The parts are, then slid relatively to each other until the end, 56 of the member 26' engages the stop an. on the member 40. The receptacle and frame. will tend to rotate about the rear edge of, the extension 52 of the supporting member 26. so that the lip 44 and the downwardly extending flange 3'6 are in contact substantially throughout theirlength. When it is desired to swing the receptacle It out of position to permit bobbins to be removed therefrom the receptacle is swung in a clockwise direction, as viewed in Fig. 4, to move at least a portion of the receptacle from beneath the-hopper andtransferring mechanism, the member 26 will swing; tothelef-ta distance controlled by the width of the gIfOOVe 38.
