Thi invention relates to a razor blade holder and has for its principal object the provision of a simple, easily manufactured device which will hold the blade in a rigid projecting position when in use and which will entirely conceal and protect the blade when not in use.

Another object of the invention is to so construct the device that it can be formed from a single piece of material and so that the blades can be easilyand quickly reversed and replaced as they become worn.

Other objects and advantages reside in the detail construction of the invention, which is designed for simplicity, economy, and efficiency. These will become more apparent from the following description.

In the following detailed description of the invention, reference is had to the accompanying drawing which forms a part hereof. Like numerals refer to like parts in all views of the drawing and throughout the description.

In the drawing:

Fig. 1 illustrates the appearance of the single blank piece of material from which the improved holder is formed;

Fig. 2 illustrates a typical double-edged safety razor blade of a type which may be used in the improved holder; I

Fig. 3 is perspective front viewillustrating the blade in the projected position;

Fi 4 is a rear perspective view illustrating the blade in the concealed position.

Fig. 5 is a front view of an alternate arrangement of the improved holder; and

Fig. 6 illustrates the front of the alternate form with the blade in the concealed position.

The improved razor blade holder employs a single blank of sheet material. such as metal or plastic. The blank is cut to form a front face ID and a rear face ll separated by a roll or fold line I2. Two angular cuts l3 extend inwardly from the side edges of the rear face II to form two hinged locking clips 14. An ear [5 projects from each of the locking clip l4 and a rectangular portion is formed adjacent each to form locking corners 2|. The two corners of the rear portion H are formed with retaining tabs IS.

The blank is folded back upon itself to form a cylindrical roll I 1 along the fold'line I 2. The two ears l5 turned forwardly and inwardly around the edges of the front face H1 in spaced relation therewith, that is, the inwardly turned portions at the extremities of the ears do not contact the front face ID. The two tabs l6 are folded forwardly to extend across the opposite ends of the front face H], as shown in Fig. 3.

The usual double-edged razor blade, such as illustrated in Fig. 2, is formed with two opposite sharpened edges l8 and two projecting end portions H) which extend outwardly beyond th ex: tremities of the edges I 8. The blade ha an elongated central opening 29 for receiving the usual double-edged razor blade holder. The blade is inserted in this improved holder by springing the tWo faces l0 and H apart sufficiently to allow the blade to be slipped between the front face 10 and the extremities of the tabs l6.

When in the retracted position of Fig. 4, the locking clips 14 force the locking corners 2| against the blade so as to squeeze the latter against the front face Ill to retain it in place by friction. For use, the user grips the extremities IQ of the blade and pulls it forwardly until these extremities contact the tabs I B at which time the clips l3 will snap forwardly to place the locking corners 2| behind the projecting extremities I9 to firmly lockthe blade in the projected position of Fig, 3.

To again return the blade to its concealed position, the user presses upon the two projecting tabs l5 which causes the clips Hi to fiex rearwardly sufliciently to remove the locking corners 2| from the path of the blade to allow'it to be pushed inwardly to the position of Fig. 4 beneath the corners 2 I.

In Fig. 5 an alternate arrangement is illustrated in which the front portion I0 contains a. rectangular cut 22 to provide a flexible lip 23, which, under pressure of the thumb of the user, will flex inwardly to engage the edge of the opening 20 in the blade to more firmly maintain it in its projected position. Other than this, the holder of the alternate form is similar to that of the previously described form.

While a specific form of the improvement has been described and illustrated herein, it is desired to be understood that the same may be varied, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit ofthe invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired secured by Letters Patent is:

1. A holder for safety razor blades comprising: a blank of sheet material folded back upon itself to form adjacent front and back faces for receiving a razor blade therebetween; sprin clips cut from said blank at each end of one face of said holder said clips being positioned to engage the projecting extremities of said razor blade to hold it in the projected position.

4. A safety razor blade holder comprising; a a

sheet of material folded back upon itself to form a back face and a front face j0ined by a rolled fold, said faces being maintained in contact by the resiliency of said material to grip a razor blade therebetween; ta s formed on the ends of the rear face, said tabs being bent forwardly to engage said blade to obstruct removal thereof from said holder; resilient means cut from one face and extending toward the other face to engage said blade and maintain one edge thereof projected from said holder; and releasing means for releasing said resilient means from engagement with said blade. 7
