Abstract
617,175. Bed-settees. ROBINSON, L. March 13, 1946, No. 7903. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1945. [Class 52 (ii)] The ends of a bed-settee carry guide blocks 19 having a curved upper edge 29 to support the back squab 17 in raised position and a sloping front face 18 against which the back squab rests when lowered. The squab 17 is hinged to a flap 24 which is in turn hinged to the upper edge of the settee back 11 and is supported by horizontal stops 191 on the guide blocks when the back is lowered.

In a combination couch and bed having spaced side arms, an upright back portion intermediate said arms, a normally horizontal back top hinged thereto, a pair of spaced blocks se cured to the inner walls of said arms, each'of said blocks having an upwardly inclined forward edge and a rearwardly extending downwardly curved top edge, and an inclined back rest hinged to said back top, withits rear surface bearing against the inclined edges of said blocks, said back top being adapted to be pivoted to a vertical position, with said back rest assuming a substantial vertical elevated position resting and retained against accidental movement upon said curved edges.

In a combination couch and bed having spaced side arms, an upright back portion intermediate said arms, a normally horizontal back top hinged thereto, a pair of spaced blocks secured to the inner walls of said arms, each of said blocks having an upwardly inclined forward edge and a rearwardly and downwardly extending top edge, and an inclined back rest hinged to said back top with its rear surface bearing against and supported upon said inclined edges, said back top being adapted to be pivoted to a vertical position, with said back rest assuming a substantially vertical elevated position with its bottom edge supported and retained against accidental movement upon said top edges.
3. In a couch having spaced side arms, horizontal back means connecting said arms, a pair of spaced blocks secured to the inner walls of the rear portions of said arms, each block having an upwardly inclined forward edge and a ing.v against said inclined edges.

with said back rest assuming a substantially vertical position with its bottom edge resting and retained against accidental movement upon said top edges.
