-flhis invention relates to a hunters game carrier and has for the primary object, the provision of a device of this character which may be Worn over ordinary hunting garments to permit game killed to be conveniently carried along with hunting accessories without'interferingwith the normal movement of the hunter.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an apron-like panel preferably of waterproof material and provided with attaching means for the securing of the panel across the back and' over the hips and'at the Waistline of the hunter and includes means for suspending thereon birds and other game to prevent contact thereof` with th'e garments of the hunter 0r from interfering with movements of the hunters body, arms or legs, or with the hunter quickly taking a shooting position and locates the hunting accessories, such as the ammunition in convenient reach' of the hunter. Y
With these and vother objects in View asA will become apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consistsr in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a view in elevation with parts broken away illustrating a hunters game carrier constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on th'e line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view taken on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1. i
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates an elongated garment protecting panel and provided with rounded corners and composed preferably of waterproof material or fabric and of double thickness as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing. To construct the panel of double thickness layers of waterproof material 6 are brought together and have th'e edges thereof turned inwardly as at 'I and stitched together as at 8, the stitching extending entirely about the edges of the panel 5 also longitudinally thereof with the stitching interrupted at opposite ends of th'e panel cooperating with stitching 9 and forming a guideway I0 to freely receive a waist belt not shown. The guideway I 0 is located a limited distance below the upper edge of the panel with that portion of the panel provided with series of stitching I I for strengthening or reinforcing the upper portion of the panel to which' is secured spaced tabs I2 carrying rings or like elements I 3.v I'he rings I3l are engaged by snap fasteners I4 connected to the ends of a sectional neck strap I 4', The sections of the neck strap are detachably and adjustably connected by a suitable buckle I5. `It is preferable that 'the' buckle I5, snap fasteners I 4 and' rings I3 be ofan extremely small size so as to present a neat ap- Dearance as well as not interfering 'with the person wearing the device; Y
On th'e lower portion of the panel 5and extending to the end edges thereof are pockets "I6 fully open alongV their .upperl longitudinal edges whereby hunting accessories, suchgas ammunition may be conveniently arranged within the pockets. The pockets I6 are formed by' applying to the panel5 layers of material' 'stitched'to 'the outer layer that goes' to make up the panel Sas shown at I'I. The layers of material that form the pockets may have edges thereof turnedinwardly with the edgesv of the layers of material which form the panel and be secured in place by the stitching 8. The layers of material forming the pockets also may have rows of stitching I8 adjacent to the mouths of the pocket for the purpose of reinforcement.
A plurality of game suspension straps I9 each including a noose 20 are provided on the panel 5. The straps further include 100D portions 2I arranged within the belt guide III between th'e layers of material that make up the panel 5 and are stitched to both layers both vertically and longitudinally of the panel so that the waist belt may also extend through the loop portions of the straps when extended through the guideway I0 i of the panel placing the loads carried by the straps onto the waist belt relieving to a great extent load strain on the panel 5 as well as on the neck strap I 4.
The free ends of the straps I9 have securedy thereto rings 2I through which the straps pass to form the nooses 20 and slidable on the straps within the nooses are rings 22 that act to prevent .the rings 2| from moving oil of the straps and also may be used as iinger pieces for quickly adjusting the size of the nooses and thereby fai cilitate the application of the nooses to the game and the adjustment thereof on the game. The rings 22 will greatly assist the hunter in adjusting the size of the nooses when the straps become wet or when dried after being wet and becoming stiff.
It is preferably that the length of the straps into shooting position.
the normal movements of the hunter, leaving the hunters arms and legs free `of interference in that they .may `qiuckly assume .shooting position.
Any typepof Vwaist'belt may be used 'in conjunction with the apron that Will pass freely through the vguideWay l0 and loop portions 2l of the straps. In applying this device to a hunter the neck strap is placed over the head and across the shoulders with the apron extending across the hunters back and over the hips, the Waist belt is then fastened about the Waist of the hunter with the straps I4 engaging the neck under the chin of the hunter. It will be seen that the game carrying straps I9 are then located in rear ofA the hunter. with 'the lpockets vI 6 at 4the hips Vgof theK hunter lin 'convenient reachof the hands. Garne -as rkilled may readily .be jplaced in the nooses of the -straps .and supported ina suspended position With the game resting against thepanel .5 Aand `thereby prevented from contacting the garments of the hunter. Alarge extent ofthe load of the game .carried by the straps fis borne by the Waist belt yrelieving strain Von the hunters neck 'ofV the greatest proportion of 'the load. The game being arranged l.at theArea-ror back of the'hunter leaves-thelegs and arms perfectly Ifree for normal actions andfor movements While `I have shown anddescribed the preferred embodiment `of my invention, it will Abe yunderstood {thatminor changes in Lconstruction, com- Vbinationand arrangement-'of parts may -be `made Without departing :from the spirit V-and scope; of the .invention as claimed.
Having thusdescribed my invention, YWhat I claim is: K' Y 2,394,805 ...s Y l 1. In a game carrier for use by hunters, an elongated panel, a longitudinal belt guideway eX tending through said panel, a plurality of game suspension straps having loops at the upper ends thereof positioned in said guideway` a waist e11- circling belt positioned in said guideway and through said loops, the lower end oi each of said game suspension straps being provided With a xed ring with said strap folded through said ring .forming .a .noose on lthe lower Yend of said strap., Vand n a secondV ring slidably positioned around said strap Within said noose.
.2. In a game carrier for use by hunters, an elongated panel, a longitudinal belt guideway eX- tending through said panel, a plurality of laterally extending openings in said guideway, a
plurality of vgame suspension straps positioned through said openings, loops on one end of said straps withinsaid guideway, a waist encircling belt positioned through said guideway, and said loops, a fixed ring'on the` other end of each 'of said straps .with said strapfclded through said ring forming arnoose thereon, and a -slidable member on Asaid strap'inside ofr said noose.
V3.-In a ygame carrier fior Vuse byhunters, an elongatedwpanel, a 4longitudinal belt .guideway extending through ,saidV panel,V a .game .suspension strap `having a loop gat its upper end, said loop being positionedin saidguideway, a Waist encircling belt positioned through said guideway and said loop, anoose on the other-endof saidstrap, and ia slidable ring on -saidstrap .withinsaid noose.V
4. In a game lcarrier for use by hunters, Yan elongated panel, a longitudinal beltguideway extending through Vsaid panel, a game suspension strap having a loop at its upperend, said loop being `positionednin said vguidevvay, a Waist en cirucling belt .positioned through ,saidguideway and said loop, Ia ring member secured 'to thelower end of said strap, said strap being .folded through said ring yto form a noose, vand a slidablemember secured around said strap within said noose.
