Patented Dec. 18, 1945 CARD LEDGER Eric Vaucher, Biel, Switzerland Application February 17, 1944, Serial No. 522,816 In Germany March 9, 1943 3 Claims.
My present invention relates to improvements in card ledgers generally, and particularly to a visible index and color signal system therefor; and the object of my improvements is to simplify the structure and render same inexpensive of manufacture.
I attain this and related objects by the device illustrated, by way of three forms of invention, in the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. 1 shows a front plan view of a shop control card ledger provided with a color signal device according to a rst form,
Fig. 2, a section, to a larger scale, of the latter on the line III--III of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3, a section, also to a larger scale, of the said first form on the line II-II of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4, a section, again to a larger scale of the said iirst form on the line IV--IV of Fig. l;
Fig. 5, a front plan view of a stock control card ledger provided with a color signal device according to a second form,
Fig. 6, a section on the line VI-VI of Fig. 5,
Fig. 7, a section on the line VII-VII of Fig. 5:
Fig. 8, a side view of a flap-cover box provided with a signal device according to a third form, and
Fig. 9, a section thereof.
In the form of invention shown in the Figs. 1 4, K is the card proper, b and c are cardboard traverse strips secured to the top of the said card K by means of the wire clips u. In the recess formed between the said strips b and c a plurality 0i longitudinally displaceable Celluloid signal strips d are inserted. The said strips b and c and the clips a form guides for the said signal strips d. In their non-operative position, the signal strips d do not project downwardly beyond the lower edge of the traverse strip c. The latter is provided with vertically disposed slots e, and the circular apertures f in the signal strips d correspond therewith. The said apertures f are of somewhat smaller diameter than the Width of the said slots e, and their burred peripheries y project upwardly above the plane of the strips d so as to be resiliently restrained and guided by the parallel edges of the said slots e and stopped above and below by the semi-circular edges thereof. The said burred peripheries g of the holes f are formed when the latter are punched out of the said strips d. Upon assembly of the card ledger, the said burred peripheries g of the apertures f are caught fast in the slots e and limit the longitudinal or vertical displacement of the signal strips d therein.
By inserting the point of a, pencil or the like into the apertures f, the burred peripheries g of the latter prevent the said pencil point from slipping out of the apertures f, and the signal strips d may be easily displaced and iixed in their final positions desired.
On the shop control card K shown in Fig. l, the color signal strips d indicate through which manufacturing stages a certain article, made for a certain client, has passed, and which manufacturing operations have yet to be performed. Furthermore, the fifth strip d from the left indicates, by its raised position, that the article in question f may be found in the painting department, where it undergoes the corresponding treatment. The article still has to pass the testing and the packing room, before it will be despatched.
In the form shown in Figs. 5-7, the front card lc is secured to the bottom card h .by means of stitched seams i, i. The said front card 7c is provided With longitudinal slots Z running parallel to each other and held at a certain distance from the said bottom card h by means of the gauge strips n. In the recess thus formed between the front and the bottom cards, the slides d are easily displaceable along the said slots l. The slides d are provided with a punched hole f, and the burred periphery y of the latter serves as a guide for the slide d in the slot Z. The longitudinal seams i also guide the said slide d during its displacement. There is suiiicient friction provided for the slides d so that they only may be displaced by the pushing action of a pencil point 0r the like which is inserted into the hole f. The slides d are provided with an index mark r which co-operates with the divisions shown.
On the stock control card shown in Figs. 5-7, e. g., the center slides d show a stock of 1662 l" headscrews of 2 length. The top of the card is provided with a traverse strip s which is pasted thereon.
'I'he signal device according to the Figs. 8 and 9 is particularly suited for containers, e. g. the box S shown with the flap cover C, wherein the said box is subdivided into a series of compartments (not shown). y The front wall of the box and flap-cover is provided with guide rails t fastly secured thereto. Numbered strips u are inserted into and secured to the said rails t. The signal strips d', adapted as slides, are mounted displaceable upon the said strips u and resiliently retained by the top and bottom loops of the said rails t. Thesignal strips d', here also, are provided with the apertures o for engagement by a pencil point. By correspondingly setting the slides d onto the number or other mark on the strips u, the box contents may be positively ascertained from the outside.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: Y
1. A card ledger of the character described, comprising a base card, an indicating card movably arranged thereon, and a cover member between which and said base card the movements of said indicating, card are eiected, means associating said cover member andi said baseV card and dening means for guiding said indicating card in its movement, said cover member beingprovided with an elongated slot, the direction of elongation being coincident with the longitudinal direction of movement of said'in'dicating card, said card being provided with an aperture and with a burred edge around' said` aperture; saidV burred edge projecting through said elongated slot whereby it constitutes means for limiting the extent of movement of said indicating card, said through on each side of said indicating card.
`3."1'he relationship according to claim l wherein said cover member is essentially coex- `tensive with said base card, and said associating Ameans is constituted by a row of stitching extending therethrough on each side of said indicating card.
