1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in fingernail files and has for its primary object to provide various types of file elements in a single implement of compact form, whereby to eliminate the dangerous practice of carrying a file of knife-like construction and Without reducing the filing area of the implement.
More specifically the invention comprises the construction of a fingernail file of disk form having its edges milled to provide the filling element and forming portions of the edges of the disk for use in filing the nails under various conditions.
A further object is to provide a fingernail file of thi character of simple and practical construction, which is efiicient and safe in use relatively inexpensive to'manufacturing, and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view.
Figure 2 is an edge elevational view looking toward the nail cleaner.
Figure 3 is a similar view showing the cleaner in elevation, and
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on a line 4-4 of Figure 1. 1
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral 5 designates'a metal disk having a pointed projection 6 extending radially from one edge thereof and forming a nail cleaner.
A portion of the edge of the disk is formed with a circumferentially extending transversely curved. groove 1 to provide rounded edges 8 and the groove throughout its area is milled or roughened to provide a filing surface. The groove extends from the cleaner 6 to a point at a diametrically opposite edge of the disk and the remainder of the edge of the disk is transversely flat and is also milled as at 9 to also provide a filing surface.
In using the implement the edge of the nail may be rubbed along either the grooved edge 1 or along the edge 9 in a manner to accomplish the filing action, and the rounded edges 8 may enter under the nail to effectively file the underside thereof. The radial fingernail cleaner may also serve as a, finger grip to prevent turning of the disk while rubbing a fingernail along its edge to file the nail. The construction of the implement in the form of a disk avoid the danger which usually exists through the use of a knife-like file and also enables the file to be carried in a more compact area.
The sides of the disk 5 may be plain or ornamented with a desired stamped or raised design.
It is believed that the details of construction and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having described the invention what I claim is:
A fingernail file comprising a fiat-faced metal disc having an integral radial edge projection forming a fingernail cleaner, the edge of the disc from said projection to a point diametrically opposite the projection being transversely fiat and file out, said edge from said point to the projection being transversely concave and file cut, said projection providing a, finger grip to prevent turning of the disc while the file cut edge isbeing used.
