' (oust-9) is 4 Claims.
This invention relates to a device primarily designed for use in directly catching the excess hair solution that may drain ing hair by the cold process.
More particularly, thepresent device is especially designed for use in connection with a solution applicator oi'the kind disclosed in my October 20, 1944.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a simple solution-catching device that is convenient to use and highly efilcient in use.
'A further object of the invention is to provide in which means is pro-v vided to aid in proper positioning of the device withrespect to the scalp and the wound group 01' hair strands, and wherein the solution that drains from the wound hair strands is directly caught and prevented from flowing to the scalp or dripping indiscriminately from the wound hair strands.
Other objects and features of the invention will become apparent from the following description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing, and the invention consists in parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the drawing and claimed. a
In the drawing, wherein like reference characters indicate correspondingparts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a solutioncatching device constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof, and
Figure 3 is a view taken on the plane of line 3-3 of Figure 1 and illustrating the device in use.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the present device consists 01' an elongatedltrough 8 which is of a length slightly greater than that of the spindle. and clamp 6 upon which the group of hair strands 1 is wound, and which is of a width to admit the wound group of hair strands within the upper portion thereof, as shown in Figure 3. The trough 8 is provided at one end with a suitable handle 9 tofacilitat'e holding the trough in place beneath the wound group of hair strandsand an outlet or drain nipple Ill is provided for the trough 8 near the bottom of the latter and preferably at the end die 8. A flexible tube H may be connected to the and arrangement of which is provided with the hantudinal' shifting so that the operator j waving of the hair for reception of the 0 upwardly projecting I of hair strands in outlet nipple l0 and extended to a suitable point for delivering the excess solution to a receptacle disposed and supported in a convenient out-ofthe-way position. 'To facilitate proper positioning of the trough 8 with respect to the wound group of hair strands, so that the latter are spaced above the bottom of the trough, I preferably provide the latter along the upper edge of one side wall with a series of upwardly projecting comb teeth I 2 adapted to pass between the hair strands adjacent the scalp It, as shown in Figure 3. When the hair strands reach the walls at the bottom of and between the teeth l2, the trough is properly positioned so as to have its sides and bottom spaced from the wound group of hairs and is effectively sustained against lateral or longineed only exercise an eilort to keep the trough at the desired elevation or against lowering away from the wound group of hair strands. The teeth It also aid in minimizing likelihood of waving solution draining toward and coming in contact with the scalp.
From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction and operation, as well as the advantages, of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art. Minor changes may be made iii details of construction illustrated and described, such as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim is: v
-1. As a means for directly catching excess hair waving solution that may drain from a wound group of hair strands during permanent by the cold. process, a trough wound group of hair strands, a handle-carried by spaced teeth on the upper edge and along one side of the trough, said trough being adapted for reception of the wound group the upper portion thereof, and the teeth passing through the group of strands adjacent the scalp to facilitate maintenance 'ofthe trough in proper position with respect to the wound group'of hair strands.
2. As a means for directly catching excess hair waving solution that may drain from a wound group 01! hair strands during permanent waving oi the hair by the cold process, a trough for reception of'the wound group of hair strands, a handle carried by the trough,. and a series of upwardly projecting spaced teeth on the upper edge and: along one side of the trough, said trough being adapted for reception of the wound the trough, and a series of group oi'hair strands in the upper portion thereof, and the teeth passing through the group of strands adjacent the scalp to facilitate maintenance of the trough in proper position with respect to the wound group of hair strands, and a drain nipple for the trough adapted for connection with a suitable point of disposal by means of strands adjacent the scalp to facilitate maintenance oi the trough in proper position with respect to the wound group of hair strands, said y,
handle comprising a straight elongated member coextensive with and projecting from one end of the trough.
4. As a means for directly catching excess hair waving solution that may drain from a wound group of hair strands during permanent waving of the hair by the cold process, a trough for reception of the wound group of hair strands, a handle carried by the trough, and a series of upwardly projecting spaced teeth on the upper edge, and along one side of the trough, said trough being adapted for reception oi! the wound group of hair strands in the upper portion thereof, and the teeth passing through the group of strands adjacent the scalp to facilitate maintenance of the trough in proper position with respect to the wound group of hair strands, said handle comprising a straight elongated member coextensive with and projecting from one end of the trough adjacent the side or the latter provided with the teeth. 7
