The present .inventionrela'tes to improvements in card-holders andfrelates 'more particularlyto impibliemets ill holders Which adapted I the reception of record-cards such, for instance, as cards forkeeping 'track of production operations in manufacturing plants, though the cardholders are available for other uses.
One of the objects of the .present invention. is to provide a superior record-card holder so con-V structed and arranged as to conveniently lhold record-cards and tov shield 'the same against me'- chanical injury, to thereby enable thefcar'dl-holder with its setof lrecord-cards, to accompany items of manufacture through various steps of manufacture to completion.,
Another object. oi. the present inventionv to provide `a superior record-card holder soY constructed andarranged as to provide whereby the contained record-cards` may be. conven. iently divided into sections n A further object of the presentinven-tion is. to provide a. superior record-cardholder constructed 'and arranged so thatY record-cards. may be die vided into sections, and one or more such sections may be. retained inthe holder with provision for displacing suehsectionfrom. its original location into a noninterfering location, with respect to other complete record-cards still remaining. in the-holden With thev aboveand other objeotsin view as will appear to those ski-lledzin thea-rt from the presen-t disclosure, this invention.. includes: all features in the said disclosure which are novel-i over they prior art.

'lhe7 aforesaid of perforations f andi-f l serve to potentfalyY divide agiven recrdcardk-nt$ into tour. sections: respectively designatedb-ythe the lower right-hand section 25 of a given card may be kept in the possession of the worker `as a record to check the workers own pay when such pay is received. y
Adjacent the upper left-hand corner of the upper left-hand section 22 of each card, the bodymember I of the card-holder is formed with a perforation 26 (Fig. 8) to provide means for pivotally attaching a group of record-cards such as I9. In the instance shown, an ordinary doublearmed iiexible fastener 21 is extended downwardy poses as will hereinafter appear.
When the given operation set forth on the upper-most record-card I9 is completed, the worker may detach the right-hand portion of the said record-card (consisting of the sections 24 and 25) by lifting the free end' of the given recordcard to thus bring the portion thereof adjacent the perforations 20 against the under-edge of the tear-off bar I6, as is shown in Fig. 4. Now, since the vertical line of perforations 20 is located adjacent the edge of the said tear-off bar, the part of the record-card consisting of the sections 24 and 25 may be jointly detached from the part consisting of the sections 22 and 23. The nowdetached right-.hand portion ofthe record-card (consisting of the sections 24 and 25) may now be parted along the horizontal line of perforations 2|, whereupon the upper Section 24 may be sent to the payroll department and the lower section 25 retained by the worker as a receipt.
After the joint severance of the sections 24 and 25 as above described, the remaining left-hand portion of the record-card (consisting of the'sections 22 and 23) may be pivoted about the fastener 2'! and swung into the position in which it is shown in Figs. 5.and 6. In this manner, the line of perforations 2| will bebrought into registry with the tear-off lip 28 constituted by the left-edge of the retaining-member i3. Now, by bending the section 23 downwardly as indicated by broken lines in Fig. 6, the' said `section 23 may be detached from the section 22. The detached section 23 may now be dispatched for insertion in the production chart, while the section 22 will be retained in the record-card holder by the fastener 21, but in a position of noninterference with the second card of the series, which will thus be exposed, so that the information contained thereon will be available to the worker and respects -as illustrative and not restrictive, and
all changes coming within the `meaning and equivalency range of the appended claims are intended to be embraced therein.
I claim: i
1. A record-card holder` including in combination: a body provided intermediate its respective opposite ends with pivot-means for pivotally-attaching record-cards to the said body, the said body being provided with two separate substantially-parallel tear-off means respectively located on the'opposite sides'of the said pivotmeans in position to be engaged by a portion of a card to facilitate the tearing-off of a portion thereof, one of the said tear-oit means being spaced above the upper-face of the said body to provide space for the accommodation of recordcards.
2. A record-card holder, including in combination: a body provided intermediate its respective opposite ends with pivot-means for pivotallyattaching record-cards to the said body, the said body being provided with two separate substantially-parallel tear-off means respectively located on the opposite sides of the said pivotmeans in position to be engaged by a portion of a card to facilitate the tearing-off of a portion thereof, one of the said tear-off means comprising a tear-off bar having its lower-face spaced above the upper-face of the said body to provide space for the accommodation of record-cards.
3. A record-card holder, including in combination: a body provided intermediate its respective opposite ends with pivot-means for pivotallyattaching record-cards to the said body, the said body being provided on one side of its said pivotmeans with al first tear-off means and being provided on the other side of the said pivotmeans with a second tear-01T means extending in substantial parallelism with the said first tearf oi means, the said second tear-off means being spaced upwardly with respect to the upper-face of the said body to provide space for the accom- 40 modation of record-cards; and vertically-extending retaining-means positioned adjacent the said rst tear-off means to retain portions of a card in a position adjacent the said first tear-off means.
4. A record-card holder, including in combination: a body-of substantially-rectangular form and provided adjacent one of its corners with means for pivoting record-cards, the said body provided at one end with a tear-ofi lip adjacent the said pivoting-means; a tear-off bar extend ing crosswise of the said body in substantial parallelism with the said tear-off lip and located on the opposite side of the said pivoting-means therefrom, the lower-face ofthe said tear-off bar being spaced above the upper-face of the portion of the said body to provide space for the accommodation of record-cards.
5. A record-card holder, including in combination: a body having one of two complemental substantially-parallel guard-flanges projecting along each of its opposite edges to form a troughlike structure; a tear-offV bar extending crosswise of the said body between the two said guardanges thereof, the lower-face of the said tearoi bar being spaced above the upper-face of the portion of the said body lying between the two said guard-Hanges to provide space for the accommodation of record-cards; a tear-off lip on said body extending in substantial parallelism with the said tear-off bar; and pivot-means `lo-l cated intermediate the saidr tear-off lip and the said tear-off bar 'and providing means for piv-L otally-attaching record-cards to the said body.
