3 Claims.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in tool holders for vertical turret lathes and other turning machines, and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set "forth, a device of this character comprising a novel construction, combination and arrangement, whereby the spacing and angle of the tools sired.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a toolholder of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, highly efficient and reliable in use, compact, and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing, and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specificae tion, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:

The heads I2 of the securing screws II are engaged with the shoulders I3 which are prothrough one of the adjustable and removable chucks, showing a tool secured therein. The chamber 3 also accommodates metallic spacers I4 of suitable thickness for the chucks 6.
Mounted on the front of the block I and extending transversely across the chamber 3 for retaining the members therein is a metallic supporting bar or brace I5. Allen screws, I6 secure the bar I5, the block I being tapped to accommodate said screws. I
The chamber 3 also accommodates wedges I6 of suitable metal which are adapted to be mounted between the chucks Gwhen it is desired to mount the tools 8 at an angle, as illustrated to advantage in Figures 2 and 3 of the drawings.
Projecting forwardly from the small end portions of the Wedges [6 are integral lugs or the like I! which are engageable with the bar I5 for positively preventing said wedges from slipping in thedirection of their large ends. The block I has formed in its forward portion a recess or chamber 3 which is open at the front and bottom of said block. The block I ,is further provided, in its rear portion, with a.
transverse slot 4 which communicates throughout its length with the chamber 3, said slot including R a widened or enlarged outer portion 5.
The chamber 3 is for the reception of a plurality of chucks 6 in theform of rectangular portions of the block I for adjusting the members 6, I4 and I6 and for securing said members in position.
It is thought that the manner of using the holder will be readily apparent from a consideration ofthe foregoing. ,Brieflygthe tools 8 are mounted in the chucks B and secured by the screws 9. If desired, this may be done before the chucks 6 are mounted in the block I. With the screws II loose, the chucks 6 may be readily adjusted to any desired position in the chamber 3. The members l4 and I6 are mounted in the chamber 3 between the desired chucks 6 and the bar I5 is secured in position. The adjustment of the assembly is then secured by tightening the procedure may be followed when assembling the device.
It is believed that the many advantages of a tool holder constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combinationand arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed} What is claimed is: 1. A tool holder of the character described comprising a block having a chamber therein" open at the front and bottom of said block, the.
block further having a slot therein 'cbmmuni removably and adjustably mounted in thechamher, a bar mounted; on theblock. and extending across the chamber, wedges in the chamber between the chucks for retaining. the adjacent tools at an angle relative to each other, and lugs on the wedges engaged with the bar for retaining said wedges against longitudinal movement.

A tool holder of the character described comprising a metallic block having achamber therein open at the front and bottom of the block, said block further having a. slot therein communicating with the chamber, an attaching shank for the block integral therewith, a bar mounted on the front of the block i and extending across the chamber, a plurality'of chucks adi justably and removably mounted in the chamber,
