SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 236,077, dated December 28, 1880.
Application filed October 23, 1880. (Model.) v
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, I. NEWTON PEIRCE, of Philadelphia, county ot Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and linproved Support for Non-Oond-uctin g Coverings for Steanroilers and Steam-Pipes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved support for non conducting covering made of sheet-iron or other metal plates, withY small iianges which rest upon the surface of the boiler or steam-pipe to support the felt and keep it from coming in close Contact withthe steam-boiler or steam-pipe.
The following is an exact description of my invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1, A represents a single sheet-iron plate, with anges t a, and with the surface b made dat or arched, to correspond with surface of theusteainboiler or steam-pipe to be covered. Fig. 2 represents several of these sheet-iron plates A placed together, wit-h the anges c c resting against each other, and the edges of the flanges a c resting upon the surface of the steam-boiler or steam-pipe O, and the wholetied together ready for some suitable non-conducting covering to'be applied to the outer surface, d d. What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The boiler and pipe covering herein described, consisting of the segmental sheet-iron plates A A, provided with the langes c a, constructed and arranged substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
