With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the improved combination of parts set out in the claims whichfollow.
The accompanying drawings show diagrammatically in elevation a concrete-mixing machine embodying the invention.
In these drawings Figs. 1 and 1a show the front part of the machine and Figs. 2 and 2a the backr part.
The machine illustrated is similar to that described in specification No. 2,264,170 in which the gravel, sand and cement are deposited in layers on an endless belt and are then mixed dry by agitators past which the belt movesthe material; water is then added and further mixing is effected by further agitators.
The invention is not, however, restricted to belt mixers but is applicable to all kinds having proy portioning'devices for the materials.
Referring to these drawings the belt is supported by roller chains A running between driving wheels B and return wheels C.
The gravel, sand and cement are deposited in measured quantities from hoppers D, E, F respectively and a dry mixing is effected by agitators GI driven by bevel gearing from a horizontal shaft H; water is then delivered from a tank J and further mixing of the wetted materials is eiected by agitators G2, G3 and G4. a

A fifth Arod M5 is providedforcontrol Vfro fthe hopper or other containerinto whichV the *mixed concrete is fed; `when thecontainer is full the rod M5 will drop and thus cause the mixing machine to stop; release of the rod M5 for stopping ythe machine is eilected from the delivery point by electro-,magnetic or other suitable means.

In the latter case it is desirable that the clutch and the water flowing from the tank` to the mixing belt shall be interlocked so that the stopping of the belt stops the water; but thoughv the clutch and Water delivery are interlocked, means are preferably provided whereby the water can be entirely stopped so that the belt alone can be caused to travel without anyr water flowing.
Means are preferably provided whereby on refilling any hopper or tank, which has caused the push-rod to throw out the clutch, its vertical rodV is pulled out of the chain and this allows the clutch to be thrown in again by a suitable spring or weight.
In the apparatus above described the flaps act ras mechanicalrelays by which the power of the belt is caused to control thefclutch but similar aps could also be used to operate electric conments above mentioned but includes all arrange-y y ments or modifications coming within theambit of the claims which follow.
I claim: Y 1. A concrete mixing machine having in com bination `containers for aggregate, cement and water, a belt, means driving said belt past'said mixing devices, a roller chain driving said belt,
rods arranged above said chain, means for causing one of said rods to fall into engagement with ranged above said belt, means for driving said belt past said mixing devices, a roller chain driving said belt, rods arranged above said chain,
flaps in the containers for cement and aggregate-A normally holding said rods in raised position by the Weight of material upon them in Asaid icontainers, means for causing one of -the rods to fall into engagement with said chain when its iiap is released, and means whereby said engagement causes the driving means of said fchain yto -be thrown out of action.

A concrete mixing machine having in combination containers for aggregate, Ycement and water, a belt, means for delivering .measured quantities thereof to a belt, mixing devices arranged above said belt, means for -driving said belt past said mixing devices, means for Ycausing the belt to be stopped when the amount -of any one of the materials in its container falls'to la predetermined value, a roller chain driving' said belt, a clutch driving said chain, a push .rod controlling said clutch and means for causing =the push-rod to throw out the clutch when the amount of material in any of the -containers reaches a predetermined value.

A concrete mixing machine having in combination containers for aggregate, cement `and water, a belt, means for delivering measured quantities thereof to the belt, mixing devices arranged above said belt, means for driving said belt past said mixing devices, a roller chain driving said belt, rods arranged above said chain, means for causing one of said rods to fall into engagement with the chain when the material of a container falls below a predetermined amount, a clutch driving said chain, a push-rod controllingsaid clutch, and tappets Icarried on said pushrod and engaged by said rods when moved into f engagement with said chain.

A concrete mixing machine having in combination containers for aggregate, a cement and water; a belt,V means for delivering measured quantities thereof to the belt, mixing devices arranged above said belt, means for driving said belt pastsaid mixing devices, a roller chain driving said belt, a floating ball lever carried in said water container, a rod connected to said ball lever and means for causing said rod to fall into ccntact with said chain and cause its driving means to, be vthrown out of `action when the ball lever falls to a Vpredetermined amount.
6. AAconcrete mixing machine having yin combination containers for aggregate, cement and Water, a belt, means for delivering measured quantities thereof to the belt, mixing-devices arranged above said belt, a roller chain driving said belt, means for driving said chain, means controlled bythe level of material in said containers, causing vsaid chain to be positively engaged when the amount of any one of the materials in jits container falls to a predetermined value, vand means for stopping said driving means for said chain when said chain is so engaged.
