(o1. zit-+2) L This invention relates to electric lamps, and its general object is to provide a lamp of the floor type, that includes a stand in the form of an open frame suitably braced throughout its height and shaped to not only be unique and ornamental, but is not easily tipped or toppled over, yet the lamp is light in'weight, as it is made essentially of wood, so that it can be readily moved and carried.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

While I have illustrated an ash tray as being mounted in the container, it will be obvious that any kind of receptacle or the like can be mounted therein and is'held against casual removal, displacement or falling from the platform in the event the lamp should be tipped.

The platform'is provided with a circular row of openings disposed inwardly of the openings for the lower uprights, and adhesively or otherwise secured within the inner openings are the lower ends of upper uprights 52 that are likewise arranged in converging relation or inclined toward each other from the platform, as best shown in Figure 1. Mounted on the upper ends of the uprights i2 is an upper disk member I3 providing the top of the stand and having openings therein, with the uprights adhesiveiy or otherwise secured Within the openings. v

each bracing means includes a disk member M having pins i5 secured to and radiating from the periphery thereof, and extending through transverse openings in the uprights, the pins being adhesively or otherwise secured within the openings, as will be apparent. Both the upper up of a plurality of strips I secured together to radiate an equal distance apart from a common center, and secured to each'strip adjacent its andlower uprights are in the form of rods, and f the upper uprights are preferably of less diameter than the loweriuprights, but the latter are provided with two bracing means while the lower uprights have one, as clearly shown in Figure 1.

Extending centrally through the base, each of the disk members and the platform is a tubular conduit or pipe I6 having threaded therethrough conductors H for the illuminating unit, which in the form shown includes a socket mounted within an upright shade support l8 in the usual manner, and the support I8 is threadedly secured to the upper-endpfthezpipe to bear against a spacing'washer or nut l9, or the support can bear directly against the upper disk member l3, but in any event the pipe I6 is held fixed and has a nut 20 threaded on its lower end to bear, against the under face of the base, as shown in Figure 1. What I claim is:

1. A lamp comprising a stand including a base, feet secured to and depending from the base to underlie the ame, an open frame including lower rod like uprights secured to and rising from the base in a circular row and inclined toward each other, a platform for receiving articles and fixed to the upper ends of the uprights for disposal substantially midway thewheightlof the frame, upper rod like ,uprights secured to and rising from the platform in a circular row and inclined toward each other, an upper disk member fixed to the upper ends of the upper uprights, bracing means for the uprights and including disk membersconcentrically arranged with respect thereto, pins fixed to the disk members and radiating-from-the peripheries thereof, said pins being;fixed-*to the uprights for disposing the bracing means in bridging relation thereto, and an illuminating unit-supported-at theupper end of the frameabove said upper diskmember;
