More specically, the inventionk proposes the formation of a drape curtain having an equi-'- lateraltriangularly shaped central top piece and right angle triangularly shaped side pieces connected to the sides ofthe top piece so that when the drape curtain is hung from al curtain rod the altitude of the side pieces will be vertical* in a manner to cause the top piece to be ruied.

Another object of this invention proposesv forming the drape curtain with a hem forming a passage through which a curtain rod is adapted to be extended in a manner to permitthe drape f curtainfto be hung from a curtain rod as here'- inbefore referred to.

It isa further object of this invention to form the top piece of the curtain with an alternate passage through which the curtain rod is adapted to be passed in a manner to change the appearance of the drape curtain when hung from the f rod, r f

A still further object of this invention proposes forming -a drape curtain which'is simple and durable and which will produce an unusual eiect when hung from a curtain rod and `which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.

For further comprehension of and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:

Fig. 1 is a view of a drape curtain constructed in accordance with this invention and hung from a curtain rod.

Fig. 2 is a developed view of the drape curtain.

Fig. 3 is a partial vertical sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a view similar to a portion of Fig. 2, but illustrating a modification of the invention.

Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional View on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4.

The drape curtain, according to this invention, comprises an equilateral triangularly shaped central top piece vIII having its bottom corners cut oil along a line II. This line II extends at right angles to the sides of the top piece I0. A rounded base I2 is formed on the top piece between the ends of the cut ofi corners.

have their acute base corners cut o'i along the .lines I4. yThe cut off corners of the top piece I0 and the iside pieces I3 are secured together by lines`r of stitches I5 to form a unit of the top piece I0 and thefside pieces-l3.

Hems are extendedalong the bases "of the side pieces I3 and the sides'of the top central pieceA I0. These hems are formed by bending Yin the edges vof the top central piece I0 and the 'side pieces i3 and securing these bent in portions inr position by lines of stitches I6 forming a passage way I1 for a curtain rod Ill. When-the4 drape curtain is'hung from the curtain rod I8 as shown in Fig; 1 the altitudes of the side pieces kbecome vertical and the top lcentral piece becomes draped. The side pieces I3, adjacent to the hemmed edges are folded at lilit to produce a finished side edge fory the curtain.

In Figs. 4 and 5 the ytop central piece I0 fis formed with an auxiliary passage I9 extending `horizontallybetween the sides of the top central piece. ,This passage-l9 is connected at .its ends with-the passage I1. The vpassage I9 is formed by attaching a piece of cloth material 2|)` to the back-face of thetop central piece IIJ by lines of stitches 2l. When engaging the curtain rod I8 through the passage I1, it may be completely kengaged `through this passage or may be diverted through the auxiliary passage I9 to vary the draped effect of the top central portion I0 when hung from the rod I8.

In other respects this form of the. invention is similar to the previous form and like reference numerals are used to identify like parts in each of the several views.

It is to be understood that by meansv of this arrangement, a drape curtain is created which l requires only a single curtain rod for hanging. By simply sliding the curtain on this rod the drapes are automatically formed.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructionsv herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
