` the iiexible abrasive` i In assembling our novel abrasive device, a plurality of flexible abrasive sheets l2 are superimposed one upon the other with their abrasive surfacesv all in one direction Aand they are then brought into juxtaposition with the bottom'surface of the supporting strip 5 in such a way that u the tabs` I2 of the `battery .of exible abrasive sheets are opposite the slots I0 and the cut-outs lul. The plurality of tabsare then folded over the peripheral edges of the supporting disc 5 and their free ends inserted into the slots `Il) and` thereupon pushed radially of the supporting disc underlying its bot- Of bourse, in` applying sheets to the supporting surface,` they may be detachably secured thereto in a battery of a plurality of such sheets or they may be individually V applied one after'the other. `In each instance,
- however, the sheets are secured by the interposition of theffree ends ofthe tabs through the l ticles or grains known to the the abrasive material.
slots l0, with each succeeding pair of tabs over-V lying the previously positioned tabs. The manner of application or removal of individual sheets of'abrasive Vmaterial is illustrated in the lower right-hand portion of'Fig. 4, wherein the tab I3 of the last flexible sheet being applied is illustrated in its position in the course of application v to thesupporting disc When it is desired to remove the outermost exible abrasive sheet, after it has become wornl or clogged, it is only necessary to grasp,'either by the fingers, or any other suitable instrumentality,
' the uppermost pair of tabs i3 and withdraw them through the slot It, or to tear off the disc portion of the sheet, leaving the tabs undisturbed. l' It will be noted that the cut-outs i l on the supa porting disc 5 constitute recesses into which the hinge'portions of the tabs neatly fit. y
In utilizing our novel abrasive device for the I i purpose of removing superfluous hair from the skingsurface, for instance of the vlegs or arms', the devicel is conveniently grasped by means of the knob 6 with two ngersof the-operative hand straddling theknob and in contact With the arcuately outlined section 8 of the knob. i Proper `and suc'ient pressure may thenbe exerted by the fingers against the vportion of thedisc 5 immediiiexing of the device to conform to the contour of the skinfsurface being abraded. 'The support-V ing surface 5 is of suincient flexibility and rigiditytopermit this conformation' to the surface jbeing abraded and yet to permit Ait to return to its substantially'planeconditionupon removal of the device from the skin surface. ;After the device has been used to such an ex.-
tent thatv the outermost abrasive surface is either Worn or vclogged `with hair or othermaterial re'' moved from the skin surfacait may be conveniently removed. from the device ashereinabove described, thereby exposing' the next succeeding layer or sheet` of abrasive material. When all of the "battery of abrasive sheets'has been-used, a newl supply may'readilyV be detachably secured to the. support in the manner above'indicated.
JThe abrasive material on the flexible sheets is ypreferably of a degree of fineness not to cause irritation of the skin which is being` abraded thereby. Any of a wide variety of abrasive parart may be used for j :.1. ,Af device 'for'removing'superfluousw'hain' which comprises a support and a pluralityk of l exible abrasive sheets, said support having a pair of slots diametrically opposed and positioned adjacent the peripheral edge thereof, and said plurality of exible 'abrasive sheets having pairs of tabs by means of which such sheets are de- `tachably securedto the support by the passage of said tabs through said slots; Y
