1 Claim.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in amusement apparatus, and more particularly to a game board used in playing the game of bingo.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a game board for the playing of bingo which employs permanent game pieces instead of the separate elements such as corn and other material which frequently becomes displaced from selected positions on the board during the playing of a game.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following description.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a plan view.
Figure 2 is an edge elevational view.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 3--3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is an enlarged detailed sectional view taken substantially on line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen the board consists of a top plate 5 and a bottom plate 6. The bottom plate 6 has openings therein for the reception of guide means and in each of these openings is a grooved annulus 1 receiving a split spring ring 8 which tensionally bears against a pin 9 forming part of the corresponding guide unit Ill. Each of these guide units further consists of a plate II at its lower end for abutting the under side of the bottom plate 6 while its upper end is reduced, as at l2, and is closed through a corresponding opening in the top plate 5 where it is swaged in place, as at l3. Interposed between the plates 5 and 6 and on each of the pins 9 is a coiled compression spring l4. Thus, the plates 5 and 6 are held in spaced relation to the extent shown in Figure 4.
The top side of the top plate 5 is laid off in vertical and transverse lines [5 and I8, defining blocks on which in the ordinary bingo game would be placed pieces of corn or separate elements as the corresponding characters were called.
In carrying out the present invention, each of these square spaces has an opening therethrough and in each of these openings is tensioning means corresponding to the previously described tensioning means 1, 8 and these latter tensioning means are generally referred to by numeral ll. Through each of these tensionlng means I! is disposed a pin l8 having a button (9 at its upper end and a stop head 20 at its lower end. The buttons l9 have characters 2| thereon, excepting for the king or central square 22.
It is preferable that the under sides of the buttons l9 be reduced at portions 23 so that in the event the wrong button is pushed down, the same can be quickly pulled up by the player.
In the playing of the game of bingo the buttons l9 corresponding to the numbers called by the monitor are pushed down and when either a diagonal, vertical or cross line is completed, the player is entitled to call bingo and obtain a reward if such is available.
Upon starting the game again, all that is required is that the player set the board up on one edge and push the bottom plate 6 toward the plate 5. This action will result in the pushing outwardly of each of the pins l8, restoring the buttons to the raised position shown in Figure 2.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having described the invention, what claimed as new is:
A game board comprising a pair of opposed top and bottom plates, respectively, push buttons including shanks slidably mounted in said top plate for movement toward said bottom plate and adapted to be thrust outwardly to projected position, and means connecting said bottom plate to said top plate for movement toward the same to engage said shanks and thrust the same outwardly, said means including posts extending through said bottom plate, springs on said posts urging said bottom plate away from said top plate, and devices on said bottom plate frictionally gripping said posts.
