Description

(No Model.)
S. W. FLEMING.
Pl-ow Truck.
No. 231,302. Pate Aug. 17,1880.
HPETERS. PHOTO-UTHOGRAPKER, WASHINGTON D C UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Application filed May 6, 1880.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL W. FLEMING, of Dunkirk, in the county of Hardin and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful 5 Improvements in Plow-Trucks 3 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this 10 specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a side elevation of my farm-truck, and Fig. 2 is a rear View of the same.
The invention. relates to plowtrucks; and it consists in the features of construction and combination hereinafter setforth and claimed.
In the drawings, A A designate the wheels, and B the curved axle, from which rises rear- 20 wardly a standard or truck-post, O.
D designates the truck-beam, which is secured to the truck-post O and braced by the brace-rods E. This arrangement of the truckpost throws the line of draft back of the axle,
2 5 and hence relieves the weight from the necks of the horses.
PLOW- SAMUEL W. FLEMING, OF DUNKIRK, OHIO, ASSIGNOB OF ONE-HALF OF HIS RIGHT TO JAMES RUSH, OF SAME PLACE.
TRUCK.
Patent No. 231,302, dated August 17, 1880.
NomodeL) F is the double-tree, which is pivoted to the beam, and G is the clevis which holds the plowstandard to the truck-post. The position of the clevis is determined by a regulating-rod, go G, which passes through the loop end ofa loopbolt, H. This loop-bolt is tightened up by a handle, I, which works upon the screw-threaded end of the bolt.
What I claim is- In a plow-truck, the combination, with the axle B thereof and the beam D, secured by braces E, of the rearward and upward curved truck-post O, olevis G, rod G, and loop-bolt H, having tightening-handle I, constructed and 40 operating substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL W. FLEMING.
Witnesses JAMES J. W001), JAMES S. FLEMING.
