This invention relates to an improved deposition form for use in making rubber nasal masks of, thetype used, for example, by aviators for high altitude flying.
This invention comprises a deposition form with certain. novel structural features incorpo rated. therein so that an improved nasal mask may be made eficiently, cheaply, and with a minimumof time. The mask produced is of onepiece integral construction.
Generally, the improved form which is the subject of this invention comprises a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points. on the bulbous portion and merging. to. form aring-like structure, and a stem portion, on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting ina direction generally away from the bulbous portion. The form is coated with rubber by any of the usual methods such as by depositing rubber from an aqueous dispersion of rubber by the use of a coagulant solution such as any of those disclosed in U, S. Patent No. 1,996,090, granted'fto, Edward A. Willson.
This invention can best be understood by reference, to the. accompanying drawings. showing both the construction of the form and the principal steps in a preferred method of making a rubber nasal mask, aswell as the rubber article so produced;
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the deposition form of this invention mounted on, a support and. immersed in a body of latex.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the rubber coated form with a portion of the rubber broken away for, clarity of illustration.
Fig. 3 is an elevation illustrating removal of the form from the rubber deposit.
Fig. 4 is an elevation in profile of the. nasal mask.
Fig.5 is an elevation showing the rear view of the nasal mask.

serves to produce a. fiat back and is arranged so as to leave open spaces between the backing portion I6 and eachof the rod-like arms I2, I2 for a substantial distance along the rod-like arms as. indicated at 25, 25. These two open spaces are joined by a groove I:'I in the-bulbous.

The deposition form is mounted. on a support 20. extending from the backing portion I6 for the dipping operation and is preferably mounted with the stem portion I4 up so as to lessen any danger of the form coming apart at the twojoints I8, I9. The deposition form is coated with rubber, as by immersion in latex (Fig. 1.) and therubber is dried and vulcanized. The. rubber is cut around the edge 2| of the backing portion I6. and this section ofv the rubber .is removed. The form is then separated at the two points I 8, I9 and. the bulbous portion II with its at-- tached portion of. the. ring-like structure I3 is removed through the hole produced. by the cutting operation. The stem portion. I4 with theremainder of the ring-like structure is then removed through this same hole. I claim:
1. A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion merging to form a ring-like structure lying in a concave plane, a stern portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and near the stem portion and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms and near the bulbous portion.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms of generally semi-circular cross section extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure lying in a concave plane, a-stem portion on the ringlike structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a backing portion on the back of the bulbous portion so constructed and arranged as to provide open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms for an appreciable distance along the two arms, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points disposed in linear relationship on the ring-like structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms near the stem portion and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms near the bulbous portion.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms of generally semi-circular cross section extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure lying in a concave plane, a stem portion on the ringlike structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a fin-like portion on the bulbous portion projecting generally away from th stem portion, a backing portion on the rear of the bulbous portion so arranged as to provide open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms for an appreciable distance along the two arms, a hollowed out section between the rod-like arms on the bulbous'portion forming a groove between the bulbous portion and the backing of the bulbous portion with the backing portion providing a vertical side of the groove, and the groove being arranged as a continuation of the open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined to form a unitary structure at two points disposed in linear relationship on the ring-like structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and near the stem portion and the other point being on th other of the rod-like arms and near the bulbous portion.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms of generally semi-circular cross section projecting from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure lying in a concave plane, a stem portion on the ringlike structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a fin-like portion on the bulbous portion projecting generally away from the stem portion, a backing portion on the back of the bulbous portion so arranged as to provide open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms for an appreciable distance along the two arms, a hollowed out section between the rod-like arms on the bulbous portion formin a groove between the bulbous portion and the backing of the bulbous portion with the backing portion providing a vertical side of the I groove, the groove being arranged as a continuation of the open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined to form a unitary structure at two points disposed in linear relationship on the ring-like structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms near the stern portion and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms near the bulbous portion, and said deposition form being mounted, preparatory for dipping, on a support attached to the backing portion of the form with the finlike portion projecting generally downwardly and th stem portion projecting generally upwardly.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms of generally semi-circular cross section extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a projecting stem portion on the ring-like structure, said deposition form comprising two' elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, the projecting stem portion being disposed on the ring-like structure at a position between the said two points of joinder.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure lying in a concave plane, a stem-portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joinedrat two points on the ring-like structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and near the stem portion and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms and near the bulbous portion.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projectinggenerally away from the bulbous portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points disposed in linear relationship on the ringlike structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms near the stem portion and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms near the bulbous portion.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a backing portion on the back of the bulbous portion so constructed and arranged as to provide open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms for an appreciable distance along the two arms, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a fin-like portion on the bulbous portion projecting generally away from the stem portion, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rodlike arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion on the ring-like structure opposite to and projecting generally away from the bulbous portion, a hollowed out section between the two rod-like arms on the bulbous portion forming a groove between the bulbous portion and the backing of the bulbous portion with the backing portion providing a vertical side of the groove, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ring-like structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.

A deposition form for use in manufacturing rubber nasal masks, said deposition form comprising a bulbous portion, two rod-like arms extending from spaced apart points on the bulbous portion and merging to form a ring-like structure, a stem portion projecting outwardly from the ring-like structure, a backing portion on the back of the bulbous portion so constructed and arranged as to provide open spaces between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms for an appreciable distance along the two arms, a hollowed out section between the rod-like arms on the bulbous portion forming a groove between the bulbous portion and the backing of the bulbous portion with the backing portion providing a vertical side of the groove and the groove being arranged as a continuation of the open space between the backing portion and the two rod-like arms, said deposition form comprising two elements separably joined at two points on the ringlike structure to form a unitary structure, one point being on one of the rod-like arms and the other point being on the other of the rod-like arms.
