SUSPENSORY Filed Aug. 6, 1941 ZSnnentor Cittorn eg Patented Aug. 25, 1942 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SUSPENSORY Albert Baehler, Youngstown, Ohio Application August 6, 1941, Serial No. 405,649
1 Claim.
This invention relates to a suspensory.
The principal object of this invention is the provision of a suspensory of novel form to be used in supporting the scrotum and testes of a man.
A further object of this invention is the provi sion of a suspensory adapted to be worn around the penis and upper portion of the scrotum adjacent to the body so that it provides a support for the scrotum, and hence, for the testes therein.
It is well known that suspensories of several types have been known and widely used by men of middle age or over for the support of the testes and the resultant relief of weight upon the spermatic cord and the relief to the wearer thereby. These suspensories have heretofore been formed as a pouch or sack which was tied to the Wearers body by means of cloth ties or straps.
The present invention relates to an improved form of suspensory, one that will support the scrotum and its testes in comfort without any of the discomforts heretofore known to users of such devices.
The suspensory shown and described herein takes the form of a pair of fiat bands attached to one another at an uppermost point and so formed that when they are placed over the penis'and scrotum adjacent to the body of the wearer they will shape themselves so as to offer no sharp edges that might cause discomfort to the wearer; the
suspensory is preferably formed of a slightly elastic resilient material such as rubberized fabric but is equally practical when formed of soft rubber or other material. The suspensory is preferably formed of flat material, as by stamping it therefrom; it may be formed of flattened tubular stock as well.
The suspensory will at all times suitably support the scrotum and testes due to its various parts providing for the encirclement of the scrotum and the penis and its resulting depending action from the penis. Its sh'ape enables it to retain its position indefinitely and it has been found that its resultant support to the scrotum and the testes is satisfactory.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the
invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the suspensory.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the suspensory in position, broken lines indicating the position of the penis and scrotum therein and the shaping of the suspensory when so worn.
By referring to the drawing in Figures 1 and 2 thereof it will be seen that my invention comprises a suspensory l0, washer like in shape and having a, secondary smaller washer-like portion l I attached thereto at the top thereof,
This suspensory in use is so formed that the smaller washer-like portion H encircles the penis I2 and the larger depending portion ll encircles the scrotum l3 of the wearer and is of appropriate size to suitably depend the scrotum from the penis. In this position it will, due to its resilient qualities, suitably shape itself for the comfortable support of the scrotum l3 and the testes. It will adequately relieve the strain upon the testes supporting cords which is common in their normal position. It is obvious that no pouch or sack is necessary as the scrotum itself provides suitable support for the testes when it is itself adequately supported.
It is understood that the suspensory may be formed of varying sizes and that it can be formed with either a flat or rounded surface as either form is practical and satisfactory in use.
It will be seen that one of the advantages of the suspensory shown and described herein is its inexpensiveness in manufacture. It is obvious that several dozen may be offered for sale in one package and each suspensory discarded after being worn, thus making it an attractive sanitary product.
What I claim is:
A device of the character described comprising a yieldable annulus, a secondary annulus of relatively smaller diameter positioned within the said yieldable annulus and forming a part thereof, the said yieldable annulus being of suitable size to encircle the penis and scrotum at a point adjacent to the body of the wearer so as to suitably support the testes thru supporting the scrotum itself, the secondary smaller annulus being of suitable size to encircle the penis so as to retain the device in operative position.
ALBERT BAEHLER.
