This invention relates to improvement in cooking stoves and more specifically to those stoves used in kitchen ranges burning charcoal as a fuel. Its principal object is to provide a stove of a new construction whereby, among other advantages, a saving of the fuel used is obtained, due principally to the use of controlling means for the draft.
A further object of the invention is to provide on a stove of this style some means to control as it be needed the volume of the fuel to be used.

On Figures 1 to '7 inclusive, is shown a rectangular plate or support I cast with the body portion 2 of the stove, which on these figures is shown as being of an inverted conical trunk shape but it may also be of cylindrical shape. On the inner wall of said body portion 2 there are three spaced ribs 3 that extend upward over an annular flange 4 on the opening of the stove forming therein bearing blocks 5 which show on their inner face curved recessed supporting blocks 6. The lower end of these ribs shows supporting blocks 1 on the edge 8 0n the bottom of the stove where the grill 9 rests. Grill 9 shows slots ill which fit on supporting blocks 5.
On Figures 5 and 6 are shown draft means comprising a plate ll provided with a central circular opening l2 showing therein three dovetail slots l3, being located on the middle part of their outer edge bearing blocks l4.
I5 designates a connection groove for the purpose hereafter explained. Plate l I bears three adjusting notches 16 that fit in the curved recessed bearing portions 5 of the blocks 5. On said plate II is slidably supported a disk I! the central part of which is. circular, and three dove tail extensions l8 extend therefrom. Each of these lugs shows on their upper face a bearing block I9, and cocentrically thereto is a connecting notch 20. The lower face of plate II is provided on its circular part with a guide protruding ring 2|.
In Figure 10 there is shown a tool which consists of a body 22 terminating at one end in a pointed hook 22 slightly curved upwardly and having a cross piece 23 thereon while the lower face of the hook is of concave shape. The tool has a central groove 24 therein while the other end of the tool is provided with a bore 25 for facilitating the hanging thereof.
For using the stove as shown in Figure 1 the container or pot to be used, is placed according to its size on blocks 5, M or l9. The draft is controlled by moving disk I! on plate H in order to open more or less the dove tail lots 13. These slots are shown in the figure as of being three but it is obvious that there can be more of them.
The tool 22 will be used for removing plate H or disk H by inserting its pointed hook on bores 15 or 20 as shown in Figure 11.
It must be noted that ribs 3 terminate in bearing blocks 5 avoiding therefore that when placing a pot of substantially the same size than the opening of the stove this be clogged. In such a form the pot will rest slightly spaced therein and the circulation of air will take place freely.
Should less fuel be desired on the cooking stove the grill 9 can be placed on its non-notched edge over protruding supporting blocks 1 as shown on broken lines on Figure 3 reducing therefor the capacity of the stove.
In Figures 8 and 9 is shown an adaptation of this invention to be applied to those kitchens provided with cooking stoves of rectangular shape. 26 shows a rectangular plate with a round suitable opening 21 provided with an annular flange 2B. Spacedly around this opening there are bearing protruding blocks 29 showing a rib 38 extending over the flange 28 and protruding therefrom, showing an angular recess 3|. Under the blocks there are hollow spaces 32 which register when the plate is placed on the plate of a rectangular stove shown on broken line in Fig. 8 with the protruding blocks 33 of said plate of a rectangular shape stove.
Equipped the rectangular Shape stove in such a form it is obvious that the drafting means shown in Figs. 5 and 6 can be used.
Iclaim:
1. A stove including a body portion, a supporting plate integral therewith, internally arranged supporting flanges on the upper and lower edges of the body, internally arranged rib members on said body each having a plurality of bearing surfaces, a grill member having slots therein 00- acting with said rib members and adjustably arranged within the body, the said grill member in the one instance resting on the lower supporting flange of the body and in the other instance on the lower most bearing surface of the rib members, and manually operable draft regulating means having slots therein coacting with the said rib members and arranged on one of the upper bearing surfaces thereof.
2. A stove according to claim 1 in which the manually operable draft regulating means includes a plate member having a central opening therein and dove tail slots radiating therefrom, a disk member movable on said plate and having a circular central portion and, dove tail lugs cooperating with the openings in the plate and both said plate and said disk member having bearing blocks in the upper surface thereof.
3. A stove of the type described including a stove body, a supporting plate integral therewith, said body having supporting flanges in its upper and lower edges, rib members on the inner wall of said body extending over the entire length thereof, said rib members having bearing blocks therein near their lower ends, supporting recesses at their upper ends and integral bearing blocks extending laterally over the supporting plate, a grill member adapted to rest on the lower supporting flange, and having slots therein for engagement with the ribs, the said grill member also being adapted to rest on the lower bearing blocks of the rib members when it is desired to reduce the capacity of the stove, a plate havin a central opening, dove tail slots radiating therefrom, and grooves on its edge to coact with the upper bearing blocks of the ribs, bearing blocks and a connecting opening on the upper face of said plate, a disk member movable on the plate having a circular central portion, dove tail lugs cooperating with the openings of the plate, bearing blocks and a connecting opening on its upper face, the plate and disk member forming manually operable draft regulating means, and a ring guide protruding from the lower face of said disk member and slidable around the central opening of the plate member.
