3 Claims This invention relates to an improved bottle holder which is especially adapted to hold a nursing bottle in feeding position for an infant in a crib or elsewhere. One of the principal objects of the improved bottle holder of this invention resides in the provision of means for economically producing asanitary device, of the kind referred to, which may be readily and easily adjusted to support bottles of various sizes and shapes.

Another and further important object of importance and advantage resides in the provision of means whereby the weight of the feeding infant may be utilized for maintalningthe device in position to:support a bottle in feeding position for an infant in a crib or. in various other locations.

It will be apparent that increase or decrease in the distance between the base and the upper resides in the provision of means for increasing or decreasing the distance between the. bottle supporting portion of the device and the base.

A still further important object of advan-, tage and importance is the provision of means for yieldably supporting a bottle in an inclined position.

An additional object of advantage and importance resides in the provision of means for easily inserting the base of the device beneath a mattress, pillow or the like upon which an infant may recline and thus maintain the improved bottle holder in operable position.

Additional objects of advantage and importance will become apparent as the following detailed description progresses, reference being had.

The reference numeral Ill indicates generally the base of the improved bottle holder of this invention. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the base I0 comprises a substantially rectangularly shaped wire member. One end of the rectangular member is turned upwardly, as is indicated by the reference numeral [2. The upwardly turned portion 12 forms widely spaced supporting legs which are adapted to. prevent thedevice from tipping over and also from being inserted too far beneath a mattress, pillow or the like.

Formed in the upper portion of the standard is a guard I6 and a guard it. The guard 16 is formed of upwardly projecting portions of the wire and the guard I8 is formed of downwardly projecting portions. This construction utilizes the upwardly projecting portion l6 as a guard for the end of a bottle I! (shown in dotted lines) and the downwardly projecting portion [8 as a guard for the side portion of a bottle H. The wire forming the guard I8 is preferably turned upon itself, as is best shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and extends rearwardly to a point adjacent the lowermost point of the guard I6. The members 16 and l8 thus comprise a pair of parallel wires.

Secured to the guard 16 is a bottle holding wire member 2%]. The member 20 comprises a pair of

22 and 24. The rearmost loop 24 is preferably open on one, side thereof to more readily receive the end of a bottle positioned therein. The loop 22 is of greater diameter than the diameter of the loop 24. The loop 24 is adapted to engage the shoulder of a bottle, as is best shown in Fig. 1 and thus maintain the bottle in association with the loop 22 and the guard members I 6 and I8 of the improved bottle holder of this invention.

22 and 24 is a connecting and. adjustment portion 25. The adjustment portion 26 is preferably curved, as is best shown in Figs. 1 and 3. It will be apparent that the distance between the two loops may be varied by changing the radius of the curve in the adjustment member 26.

A bottle may be positioned in the improved bottle holder of this invention preferably by first inserting the neck of the bottle through the loop 24 and then forcing the bottom of the bottle into the loop 22. The device may then be tightened upon the bottle by forcing the two loops together, or by pressing upon each side of the loop 26.

It will be apparent from the foregoing that herein is provided a rugged and sturdy bottle holder which may be economically produced and universally used.

It will also be apparent that the improved device of this invention may be used in conjunction with a mattress, pillow, pad, or the like upon which an infant may be placed during the feeding period. The adjustability of the standard enables the improved device to be used regardless of the thickness of the pallet beneath which the base of the device may be inserted. 'Moreover, the base of the device will not cause an injurious or uncomfortable lump even when positioned -beneath an extremely thin pad,

It is also to be noted from the foregoing that the distance between the securing loops may be increased or decreased at will, thus allowing bottles of various sizes to be positioned in the improved bottle holder of this invention.

It will. be apparent to those skilled in the art to which the device appertains, that numerous changes andalterations in construction and design may be made all without departing from the spirit or scope of this invention. Accordingly, it is understood that the patent granted hereon is not to be limited to the preferred embodiment here disclosed nor in any'other manner except as necessitated by the terminology of the appended claims when given the range of equivalent to which they may be entitled.

I claim as my invention:

'1. In a bottle holder, a base comprising a substantially rectangularly shaped wire member, a standard projecting upwardly from said base, the upper portion of said standard being curved forwardly and thence downwardly, a bottle guard formed of a part of the forwardly projecting portion of said standard, a pair of bottle supporting shoulder and base engaging parts in engagement with the shoulder and the base of bottles of various lengths.

2. In a bottle supporting device comprising a wire base adapted to be inserted beneath a member upon which a child may be positioned, a portion at one end of said base being turned upwardly to provide a stop, the upwardly turned portion of said base comprising a pair of spaced apart supporting legs, a manually adjustable standard projecting upwardly from the turned up portion of said base, means in association with the upper part of said standard for supporting a bottle, said means comprising a pair of bottles supporting and engaging members, said upporting and engaging members being positioned at the shoulder and the bottom portion of a bottle to prevent longitudinal movement thereof, and manually operated means for increasing and decreasing the distance between said bottl supporting and engaging members.

3. In a bottle supporting member adapted .to be employed for operably supporting a nursing bottle, a base, portions of said base being adapted to be inserted beneath a pallet upon which a child may be positioned, a standard extending upwardly from said base to a point above said pallet, 21. bottle supporting member comprising a pair of substantially annular members in aligned spaced relation, and means for maintaining the annular members in alignment, said mean including an adjustable curved member which exerts a longitudinally contractible pressure on bottles of varying lengths to prevent their endwise movement in the device.
