4 Claims. (01. 312-31) This invention relates to a cabinet which is intended primarily for use by operators in beauty shops, but which may be employed for any purpose to which cabinets are usually put.
Among the objects of the invention is the provision of a readily removable receptacle which .is adapted to sterilize its contents. The receptacle is intended to be removed and exchanged for another of the same sort but containing different tools whenever a change is made from one type of beauty operation to another. A number of prepared receptacles may therefore be kept and quickly inserted or removed whenever a change in beautytreatment to be given occurs.
Another object is to provide a hinged lid and tray which latter is self-erecting when the lid is raised and is adapted to cooperate with the first mentioned receptacle in sealing the atmosphere so that fumes of disinfectants from below will without being unduly diluted with air.
Another object is to provide a locking means on the lid, which means is adapted to cooperate with the drawer, and body of the cabinet to prevent unauthorized access to the contents of the trays or cabinet.
Referring to the drawings,
Figure 1 is an oblique view of the upper part of my cabinet, the latter being open and showing the receptacles ready for various kinds of 1 ing the tool receptacle separated from the cabinet.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary view of the lid of the cabinet.
Figure 5 is an oblique view of the receptacle shown in Figure 3, the position in which it is shown being a combination side and end view. Figure 6 is an oblique view from above of the sterilizer drawer for the receptacle. I
Figure '7 is a perspective view of a cabinet according to my invention in which a slidable drawer is substituted for a liftable tray. This View shows the cabinet open and the drawer slid forward.
Figure 8 shows the same cabinet locked and is likewise a perspective View.
Referring now to Figures 1 and 2, I0 is the upper part of a cabinet body; H is a door therefor; I2 is an inset tool receptacle; I3 a hinge lid and M a self-erecting tray supported jointly by lid l3 and body l0. As will be seen in Figure 1, the normal position of receptacle [2 extends it below afront' panel l5 of the cabinet body I0 and into the opening l6 which may be closed by door- H.- Such position is made possible for the receptacle by its being under-cut as shown in Figures 3 and 4, the under-cut portion being l1 in'these views.-
I8 is a drawer which is slidable into a recess '19 in undercutportion ll, -20 being shallow dishes intended for holding a disinfectant of the volatile type, such as formalin solution. It cooperates with a perforatedfloor 2| in receptacle .mate, middle of its interior surface.
.which is to provide ahandle for the-withdrawal of drawer l8.
Pivoted upon one of its ends, it canbe locked to a horizontal position by. means of a detent 24 to facilitate insertion and removal of receptacle l2.
Angle iron. supports are, provided withini body [Oforengagement with receptacle l2 whichmay be carried .upon. them just above undercut portion [1. The latterportion is just long enough jto. permit drawer 18 to, be slid forward below ,panel space l6.
l5 without occupying a great deal of Lid I3.may or may not be directly hinged to the .cabinet, body ill. It is preferably h n ed only tothe tray I4 by hinges 25 at theapproxi- A hinged .strapJ26 is .providedatits top edge, this strap I being provided at its lower end with a tongue 21 which is bent in at a right angle. Lid I3 is provided with a deep flange 35 which forms as near avapor tight seal with body It) as can be ob tained by ordinary production methods. In this way it cooperates with receptacle -I2 and drawer l8 to disinfect the contained tools. It also cooperates with strap 26 to make the cover I3impossible of removal by ordinary means when door H is looked over tongue 21 despite the absence of rear hinges, .if the flange is, as intended, deeper thanthe play between the lid and deep flange 35 is notnecessary; a shallow flange will do as well. Another modification which is I! the front of a forwardly slidable drawer 30, the body of which drawer is a receptacle l2 such as the modification which is shown in Figure 7 in the open position and in Figure 8 in the locked or closed position. In the drawer construction 3 l-3I are drawer pulls between which the strap 25 and tongue 21 may be inserted over the drawer front before the cabinet is locked. The right angled portion of tongue 21 is, of course, looked under door II when safe-keeping of the drawer contents is desired. The door is likewise locked when sterilization by action of the antiseptic in dishes 20 is desired. Slides are provided inside the body I in this modification, for the support and easy operation of the drawer 30. 7, it is shown that the shallow container I8 which contains the sterilizing dishes may be mounted and supported in a front panel I! which is the equivalent of panel I! shown in Figure 5 It lies well within the skill of a cabinet maker in process of this disclosure to mount the container l8, so that it will be, as is essential to this intion, in fluid connection with the interior of drawer 3.0 through the perforated bottom 2|.
By this means sterilization of the contents of the drawer is brought about.
Tray 14 is supported not only by hinges 25 but also by a pair of pivoted legs 28. The latter are attached to the sides of tray I4 at the forward corners thereof and to the inner sides of body H) near the middle of said sides by means of pivots 32 extending through a slot 33 in each leg 28. Legs .28 are received in sockets 34 below the level of the widest portion of receptacle l2. The sockets 34 are adapted to prevent,
legs 28 from moving from an erect position unless they are first pulled upward. Pivots 32 cooperate with hinges 25 in supporting the tray l4. Enough horizontal space is left forward and rearward of pivots 32 in body In to accommo- 1:
date the length of the legs 28 when they pivot about 32 and are folded into the cabinet body. Enough vertical space is left above receptacle [2 to accommodate these legs and receptacle l4.
Operation occurs as follows: Starting with the open position as shown in Figure 1, receptacle l2 can be lifted out if desired. The forward end should be lifted first and the receptacle then slid forward and upward. If tray i2 is built in the form of a drawer, the drawer-pull 3i need only be grasped and pulled forward. To close lid l3, tray [4 is first lifted sufiicientlyto pull the lower ends of legs 28 out of sockets 34. During this movement, slot 33 permits pivot 32 to be received in the opposite or lower end of the slot. Tray l4 together with lid I3 is then pulled forward and down and legs 28 fold into body ID above receptacle I2, with a pivoting motion about pivot 32. Strap 26 is then guided through drawer-pull 3!, if the cabinet has the drawer construction. In either case, tongue 21 is fitted below panel or drawer front I5, drawer l8 having meanwhile been closed. Door II is then closed and locked over tongue 21 thus securely holding down lid 13. Door II is then locked by means of lock 29 thus making the cabinet tamper-proof and substantially vapor tight so that the disinfectant contained in the dishes 20 may permeate the entire cabinet and sterilize its contents.
In Figure support drawer l8. The area between points of support for slides 22 is entirely cut away so that the fumes from the disinfectant in dishes 20 may reach the lower part of the cabinet as well as the upper part.
