This invention relates to improvements in fasteners and more particularly to closure fasteners of the slide or glide type.

An object of the invention is to provide improved slide clips capable of inexpensive manufacture.

Another object is to provide improved and novel means for joining the clips to a flexible stringer member.

A further object is to provide clips formed of plastics for both ease of manufacture and attractive appearance.

The foregoing objects and other objects, features, and advantages of the invention are set forth or will become evident from the following detailed specification which describes the exemplary forms of the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

In that form of the invention which is illustrated in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, the walls of a bag or pouch as shown at W and II, said walls terminating in beaded edges (2 and I3 respectively. These edges define the bag or pouch opening and the invention contemplates the provision of means for maintaining said edges in touching relation to close the bag or pouch.

As particularly shown in Fig. 3, the invention contemplates the provision of a plurality of clips l4 preferably formed of plastics. Each clip is preferably C-shaped with arcuate portions I5 engaging the outer parts of the beads I2 and I3 and an intermediate connecting portion l6 formed with a bulge I'l disposed between the upper parts of said beads.

A plurality of clips [5 are provided in spaced relation along the length of the pouch and thus of the beads I2 and 13. The clips are mounted upon a flexible stringer member IS in uniformly spaced relation in a novel manner which includes providing a recess IS in the connecting portion l6 of each clip, positioning the stringer I8 in said recesses, and forming a cover or bridge over the stringer comprising portions 20 of said connecting portion l6. For this purpose, plastics are best suitable inasmuch as the portions 20 may be formed as wedge-shaped parts flanking the recess l9 and readily capable of being pressed towards each other into position in overstanding relation to the stringer and in gripping engagement therewith, as best seen in Fig. 1.

Thus the stringer I8 is firmly imbedded in the clip and not visible except between clips.

The clips may be formed reversely of that described. The bulge H may be provided at the outside of the connecting portion l6 and the recess 59 formed in the inner side thereof. Either of these forms may be used on a pouch in which the beads 12 and I3 are inwardly directed as shown in Fig. 3a wherein the mentioned alternate form of clip is illustrated.

It may be feasible to extrude the clips as they are formed with the stringer already imbedded therein. This is shown in Fig. 4 and represents an attractive, inexpensive clip structure for the purpose intended.

Another of plastics clip structure is shown in Figs. 5 and 6 wherein the connecting portion l6 of the clip is provided with opposed notches 2| at the front and back of the clip. The stringer i8 is placed upon the narrow connecting portion 22 and bent downward as at 23 so as to be disposed in the notches 2|. Said portion 22 is preferably recessed as shown in Fig. 6 to form a seat for the stringer which is thus partly embedded in the clip. The corner portions 24 of the clip at the notches which are also formed as wedges, are then pressed inwardly towards each other as seen in Fig. 5, to engage and grip the downwardly bent portions 23 of the stringer. Thus the clip is effectively held on said stringer in non-displaceable relation.

While the invention is of simple nature, it is capable of being practised in various ways not herein disclosed, without departing from the true spirit and scope of the appended claim. Hence, this disclosure should not be considered as unduly limiting the breadth of said claim.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

A plastic clip for connection with a stringer of a pouch or like article comprising a body having an internal periphery composed of two opposed curved portions connected by a reversely curved portion and having an outer periphery composed of two opposed curved portions substantially parallel to the opposed curved portions on the internal periphery, and tangential angled portions the mentioned angled portions and the reverseiy curved portion being deformable to encompass and bind that portion of the stringer disposed within the slot against thementioned walls and against the bottom of said slot.
