Description
L. E. JETER TABLE WASHER Nov. 18, 1941.
Filed Aug. 16, 1938 Patented Nov. 18, 1941 UNITED STATE S PATENT OFF! CE v 2,262,767 I i I I I TABLE WASHER i Lee Ella Jeter, Memphis, Application August 16, 1538, Serial No. 225333 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a table washer, and it is primarily an object of the invention to provide a washer of this kind particularly designed and adapted for use in connection with tables such as employed in packing plants in the production of sausages, baloney and kindred meat products which are stuffed in casings.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a washer of this kind which may be applied to the table in a manner to eliminate the collecting of meat particles and the like by the washer so that the table at all times is maintained in a highly sanitary condition.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrange ment of the several parts of my improved table washer whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the.
same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in top plan of a packing plant table with my improved Washer applied thereto;
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken at substantially the transverse'center of Figure 1 with certain of the parts in elevation and the supporting legs shown in fragment;
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 1;
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken lengthwise of the washer at one end portion thereof.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, T
denotes a table of desired dimensions and which is preferably made of metal. One end. of the table is formed to provide an extended neck I so that the table can be placed in close proximity to a general type of stuffing machine as used in packing plants in the production of sausages, baloney and the like.
The side marginal portions and the end of the table T remote from the neck are defined by the upstanding side walls or flanges 2 and which flanges are also extended along the side portions of the neck I as is clearly illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing. The table T is supported at a desired height by the legs 3 arranged adjacent to the corner portions of the table. The central portion of the table is formed to provide a gutter 4 which extends from the outer end of the table to a drain pipe 5 depending from the table at a point immediately adjacent to the neck I. The entrance to this drain pipe 5 is covered by a conventional screen plate 6.
My improved washer comprises an elongated tubular member 1 adapted to be placed upon the table immediately adjacent to the end flange 2 remote from the neck I and this member I is provided therealong with a series of suitably spaced'discharge openings 8. The member I closely approximates the width of the table T and the opposite end portions of this member I have slidably fitting thereon the tubular extension members 9 each of which is provided with the openings I0 whereby jets of water may be thrown upon the top of the table T. The outer end of each of these extension members. 9 is closed, as at 9*, by a cap or the like and when the washer is in applied position this cap isv which, in the present embodiment of my inven-' 7 tion, extends outwardly beyond the outer end of the table T through a suitably positioned notch I2 provided in the flange 2 at the adjacent end of the table. This branch stem II is in suitable connection, as at I4, with a pipe line I5 leading from a suitable source of water supply. This pipe line I5 preferably extends under the table T but relatively close thereto so as to be out of the way.
Each of the tubular extension members 9 is provided at its outer end with a bracket I6 herein disclosed as welded or otherwise rigidly secured to a cap 9 This bracket I6 extends exteriorly ,of the table T and includes an arm I! extending under the table. Threading from below through this arm I! is a member I8 which has clamping engagement with the bottom of the table whereby the washer is effectively maintained in desired position upon the table. This mean-s of attaching the washer permits the same to be readily removed or applied as desired.
It is believed to be obvious that with the water discharging out through the various openings 8 and [0 the top surface of the table T will be 2 l eifectively flushed to carry off all particles of meat or other waste which may fall thereon duringthe making of the meat products. It is to be particularly noted that the washer when applied is out of the way and offers no hinderance or obstruction to the work down upon the table.
The tubular extension members 9 also permit operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason'I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself .to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
A washer comprising a tubular member, means for connecting said member with a source of fluid, tubular extension members slidably engaged with the opposite end portions of the tubular member, the outer ends of said extension members being closed, said tubular member and extension members being provided; therealong with spaced discharged openings, and brackets rigidly secured to the outer end portions of the extension members, said brackets having arms underlying the extension members, and means carried by said arms coacting with the outer ex-' tremities' of the tubular extension members for clamping the washer in working position.
